Best Gym Equipment To Use For Losing Overall Weight

Quote  |  Reply

After weeks of procrastination, I finally jump-started my goal to lose weight. I enrolled myself in a gym and started on boxing lessons. The thing is, i'm apple-shaped and got very thin legs. I'm wondering, what is the best overall weight loss gym machine I could use to burn more calories. The girls at my gym are more of the real "buffed" and muscular type. I really don't want to have big muscles. Just want to get to a "healthy thin frame". My instinct was to spend a longer time on the treadmill. I browsed on fitness sites and these three always comes up in the list : Rowing machine, Elliptical, Treadmill. I'd truly appreciate your thoughts on this :)

Best gym equipment for overall fat loss? Free weights.

Stairmill (the escalator thing) w/ free weights on shoulders.

Stick with the boxing, it's a great overall workout and does great things for your core.

This isn't really an answer to the best machine for overall weight loss, but I think that the Elliptical or recumbent bike are the easiest machines for someone to start out on.  People seem to experience a lot of pressure to run on the treadmill instead of walk because those around them are running.

Of course there is a perfect machine. I own the patten to the Ronco nuclear butt cutter! It slices dices, puts the kids to bed on time and comes in 4 different flavors............... Keep it simple!!

Lunges done 3 ways will get great results. Take a step, knee touches the floor and then bring both feet together. Kind of a half step lunge.

The next lunge is smilar to the first exercise. You stride forward, the non striding knee touches the ground, then rise and stand with your feet paralell......then the have your feet touch together for a second and go into the next lunge. Example Rite leg steps out left knee hits the floor left foot touches right, then left leg strides out to lunge.

Last one is tough. Lunge right fully, and go into a left lunge no standing erect to make it easy. These will make you walk like a Texan for a few days but get the legs in shape.  Good luck with you program. Read other threads about how to exercise and there are tons of articles and references you can get here.

Unfortunately for the rest of you readers the Nuclear Butt cutter will not be available in your area for some time!!!! Cheers

4 different flavors?? Awesome! As long as it only costs three installments of 19.95, I'm in! =)

I love the treadmill. I can challenge myself in a different way every time I get on it. (i.e. today I'm going to see how long I can run straight through; today I'm going to walk 5/run 5; today I'm going to see if I shave time off of my 5k) And the best part, I feel it in my legs and stomach. My husband swears by boxing though. I might give that a try today.
