Best (I know) types of Alcohol in while trying to lose/maintain weight/live.
I know alcohol slows your metabolism. I know if you have large amounts of weight to lose, is best to stay away. But lets be serious, we all still want to live, not just live. So, my question is this, given beer, wine, hard liquor, etc. what is the best kinds to have if you are going to drink (in moderation)? How much?
Are we talking 1 Miller Lite (96 calories) or 1 glass of wine? Wine vs. light beer? Rum and diet coke?
Honestly, I'd like to lose/maintain and still enjoy a drink now and again (read once or twice a week).
Suggestions? Comments? A chart anywhere?
well....wouldnt it depend on what you prefer to drink generally? i'm a smirnoff ice fan and in the past i could easily do 2 or 3 in a night, with something to eat. now i just make it one (176 cals/12 oz---but lots of sugar), that's my treat for the night. they also have a sugar free version but its
(that should be a yuck face by the way lol!) best to do some research online for the drinks you like to get an idea of what's what, that's how i got the smirnoff info.
My husband drinks gin and diet tonic. It's fairly low cal.
I know to stay away from daquiries and margaritias. I usually drink 7 and diet 7-up or Jack, rum or crown and diet coke, or my dad takes Crystal Light and makes a slushy with rum and ice yummy

Wine is always good (relatively, at least), especially if it's dry.
I like Sleeman's Clear which I think is like 110 calories a bottle... but it has a really nice taste to it so you're not missing a lot by switching to light.
I hate diet sodas so I stick with bourbon or whiskey straight up with some ice if I want to get drunk.
If you drink lager/beer, you are asking for trouble. It's just like drinking a glass of sugar.
Smirnoff Vodka, 97 calories per 1.5 ounces =).
I like Absolut citron with club soda and a lemon/lime wedge. Very refreshiing!
I drink every weekend!! lol Im a party girl!! :)
rum/vodka/the hard stuff is the best if you need a chaser diet coke/ sprite zero/ diet dr pepper is great! and it's the least cals. I'm a party girl as well, but unfortunately i love beerpong. Light beer if you only have a few (remember liquor before beer- you're in the clear) is not that bad either. Only 100 calories per beer. stay away from the ices or the mikes hard. It's high in cals and it makes you sick. Been there done that. Beer before liquor- makes you sicker! haha, this is the truth.

I didn't get to read all of the posts but considering this is my fave subject... (lol)... I can tell you what I've been doing lately and atleast maintaining.
I increased my work outs first. In fact I've doubled my cardio for the Summer. I just can't say no to BBQ's and drinks so that's my first approach. The other is MGD Light 64. (I'm a beer lover, can't help it.) I also like the flavored Vodka's or Rum with club soda & twists of lemon. Wine is not bad and most ppl can't chug it. I get wine hangovers so I limit my wine intake.
IDK, but I hope this helps a little. I try to start with beer and switch to something else. I also eat light during the day, limit my alcohol to 2 nights per week and save some cals for after drinking munchies. I keep healthy choices so I don't go through Taco Bell at 2 am and have one of everything. Lol. On the nights I don't drink I still work out just as hard and reward myself with something like skinny cow ice cream so that I have something to look forward to in compensation of saying no to the booze.
Good luck! :)
I like that too! Absolut Mandarin and club soda is good too with an orange twist.
White wine spritzers are good and refreshing - and it always makes me feel girly. ![]()
Gin and Diet Tonic is good. That's actually been a recent try. But isnt Gin (nip) around 100 cal?

Yeah, all the hard stuff seems to be in the 97-100 range for a nip. That's what I was thinking, so really its a toss up between that and a light beer...
Only I think there is less overall in hard liquor.
Anyone know of anything with less?
Yeah, Miller Lite seems to work well for that.

I too love beer, ha. MGD Light huh? I'll have to try it. I'm an MGD fan, so I bet it wouldn't be that bad.
Now the question is, what am I going to do around beer festival time?!!
