best life diet

Quote  |  Reply
Hi,

Has anyone here ever tried bob green's "best life diet"?  I bought the book and am thinking of doing it, it is more like a lifestyle than a diet and it is in 3 phases, so it isn't just an abrupt change.  Has anyone done it or is doing it? If so, what is your feedback and/or results?

I've never heard of it.  what does he advocate?
He is Oprah's trainer, and he basically leads you through 3 phases to lead your healthies life, rather than a "diet".
My mom is doing it. Although right now she is reading the book first, and understanding the complexities of it first. She plans on making this a way of life. She fell off the wagon so to speak after she had a hysterectomy and gained about 50 lbs.
well that is understandable, I am still kind of reading through it too.  I thought for sure someone in this forum would have already tried it but maybe it is not as popular as i thought.  Anyways, wish her good luck, it looks like a very feasible program to follow.
I saw him on Oprah... The best life guy... His program seems reasonable to me... I eat a lot of the best life foods already... I don't see why the diet wouldn't work...
I have the book. Basically Phase 1 is slowly phasing things out and adding exercise to your life. Phase 2 is the "intense phase" where things like white bread/rice, alcohol, refined sugars, etc. are removed from your diet and the pounds really come off. Phase 3 is more about maintaining.
From what I understand (which isn't much, I've only been on the website, although I did read that pretty thoroughly) the Best Life diet advocates similar goals that we advocate here at C-C; namely, changing our diets and exercise regimes slowly to work towards a lifetime change.  We all make a small change, get used to it, then make another small change, get used to it, and so on, learning and getting healthier all along.  That's basically what the 3 stages do in Best Life.  My personality and priorities never fit neatly into any diet, which is why I prefer C-C, which means I get to choose which small change I am going to make next according to my own schedule.  However, those people who need the discipline of a diet may find success with this one because it doesn't require an immediate total diet change.

I realize this is a really old post, but just wanted to mention that I have the book, too.

Mainly, I bought it for the recipes and menu suggestions.  I like to have the suggestions, and my plan is to use this as a way to re-train my "eye" as to what a proper portion is.

I followed this for a while last year, and I love the way I feel when I eat like this.  The only barrier I run into is the amount of cooking and preparation that goes into eating healthy.  That's my downfall.  I can do it, but other things suffer.  I keep thinking that I just need to be more careful about managing my time.

That said, I the book does have some really good, filling menus & gives you ideas on how to adjust it for higher or lower calorie intake.
