best light salad dressings

Quote  |  Reply
after i started my "lifestyle change" i stopped eating salads with dressing all together, which wasn't that big a deal to me because i like raw veggies. however, i've recently rediscovered just how good salad dressing really is (i had a really good salad at lunch today with spinach, craisins, almonds, and amy's lite raspberry vinagarette) and i was wondering what other light dressings are worth giving a try. in particular, how are some of the creamy dressings? i haven't had caesar in a while.... maybe if i got some ff croutons and parmesan....

suggestions?

You can try Annie's light honey mustard. So good and only 45 cals per 2 tbsps!

all wishbone's bountiful dressings are AMAZING

Love Newmans Own light balsamic vinagrette..45 cal 2 tbs !!!

I tried the Wishbone Salad Spritzers spray on dressings. They come in a pump bottle. I like the Italian Vinaigrette one. My salad was so tasty I didn't even have to add cheese! It's around 1 calorie per spray or so.

My local farmers market has a "mandarin balsalmic vinagerette" dressing that I just bought which is made with EVOO.. It is sooo good! 3 tablespoons for 50 calories.. I use it on salads, breads for dipping, baking.. My new favorite!

Oh yumalicious!  This dressing sounds fabulous.  I never heard of it before.  Does it have a brand name or is it locally made?

I agree w/ Maple Grove Farms.. i love their poppyseed and Cranberry Vinagrette!

has anyone ever tried hidden valley ranch fat free? I was wondering how it would taste. I like dressings with vinegar but I get cancer sores real easy from too much acid.

IMO the creamy dressings in the lite version all taste pretty bad, at least compared to the full fat.  So, for the dressing that normally have an egg (mayo) base I say make your own using hellman's reduced fat (not the light that only has 20 calories bc it has no taste, yuk) and add either a ranch seasoning packet or reduced fat blue cheese crumbles and then add red wine vinegar (about a T per serving) and it is way better than the bought stuff and you know what's in it.  Also, if in a restaurant the light ranch/blue cheese/caeser also don't taste as good so I use half the dressing and add some balsamic to it.  Can't really go wrong with most vinaigrette type dressings, haven't found one yet that I thought was undesirable.

I like to use balsamic vinegar of Modena (you can buy it at Costco wholesale) and just spray extra virgin olive oil with Misto. 1 second spray of olive oil with Misto is just 10 calories! Therefore, put in about 3 sprays and some vinegar and you've got a great natural dressing with only 30 calories!

I like to keep mine simple. Good quality soy sauce, Dijorn mustard and freshly ground pepper.

For fancier stuff mix some olive oil with fresh lemon juice, mix it with salad, drisle some reduced balsamic binegar on top.
