Best Music For Running
So here's a few songs I've got in my ipod right now that I run to. What are you guys listening to?
Mausam & Escape by AR Rahman - from the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack - may be the best running song ever made.
The following songs by The Crystal Method are all excellent for running:
Busy Child, Trip Like I Do, Name of the Game, Tough Guy, Roll it Up
Just Dance by Lady Gaga (don't judge me)
"stronger" by kanye west.
"harder, better, faster, stronger" by daft punk.
"poker face" by lady gaga.
"womanizer" by britney spears.
"move your body" by eiffel 65.
"forever" by chris brown.
"give me the music" by eva avila.
"misery business" by paramore.
"money honey" by lady gaga.
"the sweet escape" by gwen stefani.
"teenagers" by my chemical romance.
"lose my breath" by destiny's child.
and more. message me anytime you need workout music :)
Yeah you seem to know your stuff :)
check out mgnt's new album! ive been poping that on during every run
I like techno/trance/dance for running. There are a couple great free podcasts on iTunes that you can subscribe to, and you'll have several hours of new music every week to listen to...
Above & Beyond: Trance Around the World (2hrs/week)
A State of Trance Official Podcast (30min/week)
DJ Tiesto's Club Life (1hr/week)
Of course, you can subscribe to music from your favorite genres... podcasts FTW!
I always found Rob/White Zombie the best to listen to while doing any kind of exercise.
MGMT, Daft Punk, Pendulum, or instrumental film scores, unless I have to force myself to go running, in which case at the suggestion of my mate I put some Rammstein on *dont laugh* It really does help you run crazy/angry fast! I'm all like, "Grr! I dont know what they are singing about but I HATE running!"
*is belting it down the street*
I've got one!!!!
The song is called Caramelldansen.
It's kind of techno-y....so it isn't as though it is rap.
Just give it a shot.
I listen to this song and I can't help but bounce around to it.
I think that using it while running would be fun!
You might not like the how I described it....
But kind of mix techno to j-pop to chick music....
And there you go!
I know it's kind of lame.... but if you have earplugs in.... no one has to know what you are listening to!!!! Lol!
Definite song to get your "groove on"
Anna!
Seems I'm not the only one who likes to run to techno. Never heard of mgnt, but two of you recommended them. I forgot all about Rammstein. Good call. I'll give the Caramelldansen a try too :)
Although they're not "techno", I love running to the Killers. I also listen to 90's alternative like Sublime and 311 and some rap because the beats are good for my pace.
That being said the song I use to "push" myself is Bleed it Out by Linkin Park.
I have a very eclectic mix on my playlist.
Cyberaga-Madonna (warm up)
Can I Tico Tico You? and Mambo Mambo-Lou Bega
Because We Can-Fatboy Slim (from Moulin Rouge)
Viva La Vida-Cold Play
Bing Bang-Lazytown soundtrack
La Bomba-Ricky Martin
Blue Monday-Orgy (the New Order version is on my walking playlist)
Yep, a weird mix that has to be changed when I reach a new level of speed and fitness.
I have to listen to Metal, esp when I am doing something vigorous. I also listen to some country and 90s grunge, which I can listen to other times.
I guess I'm a huge weirdo...but the Frank Sinatra/Ella Fitzgerald versions of Cole Porter songs are essential to my running soundtrack.
But it didn't even occur to me that I could use the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack-- it would be perfect for running, huh?
anything by Girl talk!!!
it's pretty much all this mashed ups of songs that are really fantastic to run to, coz it has a consistent beat, and yet it's hard to get bored when listening to it!
Forgot about "Right here right now" by Fatboy Slim. Perfect running song.
I don't really, um, run.. but a couple in my workout music are fast beat songs like:
"Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" by KT Tunstall
Beyonce's "Single Ladies" (new fav, probably because they dance so much in the video and it's fun)
Love the Rammstein idea -thanks for sharing your lists everyone!
Great thread! I'm such a music geek. I have so many running playlists! I tend to like artists like Sleater-Kinney and Stellastar (which most people haven't heard of) but they have a great beat for running. I also like to mix it up a lot to keep it interesting, a fast Ella Fitzgerald big band piece with Eminem's 8 mile, then Rob Zombie, White Stripers, The Killers, Patsy Cline, U2's Beautiful Day, Cake, Bikini Kill, NOFX, System of a Down, Yeah yeah yeahs, Queen... etc. I think keeping it interesting keeps me going. If it's all techno or all rock I am afraid I'd get bored. I have probably 11 or 12 playlists that are 40-50 minutes long (If anyone is really interested I can post them - many of them have "walk breaks" worked into them too from when I was learning to run).
However, I think the two albums I got that I use the most are System of a Down's Hypnotize/Mezmerize and Stellastar's title CD. Almost every song on there is a great pace! And the Matrix soundtrack isn't too shabby either (Rammstein is on there)!
The Manical Laughter album by the Bouncing Souls sans Moon Over Asbury.
Well I just made a mix cd (going to make more) for when I go home since most of my better cds are here. Lmao.
