"The Best" Oatmeal Treat!!!
I made this one day just playing around and wanting somthing new.
I took 1 cup of oatmeal, dry, and put it in a bowl. Then I put two egg whites, butter, sugar, ground cin, a little milk and vanilla extract in the bowl with the oats and stired them. If you want, you can add rasins etc. to the bowl and mix them in.
After mixing, put into a pan and bake for 15-20 min at 350-425 degrees. Serve with milk and syrup. (recipie is 1 serving)
For a healthier treat, of course, you can use fat free or low calorie alternatives!! ( I do!!)
Tell me how you like it!!!

Neat, I think I'll try this with the flavored instant packs I just bought!
This sounds like a nice change from my oatmeal pancakes (1/4 c oatmeal pulverized in the blender with 1/4 c egg beaters, splenda, vanilla (and today I added dried berries). I'll try putting them in the oven like you suggest with the raisins and the cinnamon. Does your recipe come out like a cake or cookies? Thanks.
that sounds yummy! too bad i don't have any plain oatmeal, maybe i'll try the packets thing like darc... if i have enough...
I bet it would taste really great with steel cut oats. Information about steel cut oats can be found here: http://www.mccanns.ie/pages/products1.html
Yeah, well I think its suppose to come out like a soft kind of cookie, and if you want to add some more protein to this already very high in protein treat, you can even throw some cottage chesse into the mix!
Didn't see this thread and posted my own, but here it is again:
Jul 18 2006 14:38 Okay, I made this up, and it's not the best recipe in the world, but it can actually substitute a whole meal. It's 400 calories, and 10g of fiber.
1/3 cup Kroger Oat Bran hot cereal
2 tbsp peanut butter (natural) w/o salt
1 tbsp honey
1-2 tbsp water
mix honey and peanut butter together in small bowl. Then slowly add oat bran. Might have to add some water to get it right consistency (of no-bake cookies).
Roll up "dough" into 1" ball, then flatten in hand. bake them, or cook them in skillet with canola oil (or just teflon; the peanut oil won't let them stick).
It's good, or good enough as the case may be. Least I'm no longer hungry. =P
Yields four 3" cookies.

Thank you for the recipe-- I'm going to try it out this week!
gamer, sounds yummy and nice n easy perfect for a hurried morning, can leave it in the oven while i shower and dress for work. Thanks!
busyissie I also put my oats in the blender dry and uncooked, but for savoury cakes. I get my left over butternut squash stew in a bowl (not broth, just the squash), put my dried oats in the blender with an egg white, pinch of curry dash of sea salt and pepper,
then I add this to the squash and mix. I fry them up with a little olive oil in a non stick pan till golden. i like to use low fat sour cream with them for garnish, it's nice to balance the sweetness of the squash. yummmm!!!
