What is the best self-tanner ???

How is the Jergens Natural Glow ?

I've been reading reviews saying that Jergens Natural Glow is the best, because it goes well with all fair, medium, and dark skins =)

I'm kind of obsessed with tanning, but since tanning is not "healthy" for u, I'll go with self-tanners !! Cool

p.s. if you've got any comments about "tanning" at all, please do tell me!

I love Jergens. I've used for a couple of years now. Goes on even and results are quick. I use the original one but I think they have an express one that works in a few hours.

I don't like Jergen's because you have to apply it every day for a week to see results. I'm too lazy/impatient for that. I like the kind that you apply once or twice a week and see results within hours. Also I don't like the smell.

Right now I'm using L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Gelee and I like it. It smells good and absorbs quickly. It doesn't streak, but I've used lots of self tanners and never had a problem with streaking. I think it has more to do with the way you apply it than the actual product. So I'm mostly about smell and texture. I don't have dry skin and some are too moisturizing and sit on top of my skin, so that's why I like a gel better than a cream.

Also, no matter which product you get, I recommend getting the darkest one, unless you are really pale. It usually costs the same as the lighter one but you are getting a more concentrated product so you can apply less and end up saving money because it will last longer.

Remember to put moisturizer on any dry areas like your knees and elbows before doing the tanner so that it won't absorb more into those areas and make them orange. And if any areas do come out too dark you can scrub them with a washcloth or use a cottonball with rubbing alcohol to remove the extra. And remember to wash your hands when you're done applying.

i like the jergens one soooo much. i tried a fake tanner once, and it was awful. doing it gradually means that you're not going to have, say, a strip on the back of your thigh where you missed putting it on that's a telltale white stripe. yuck.

also, i'm super pale, so if it starts looking too fakey i can start using it every other day instead of every day. i've been using it all summer and it's my new lover.

I used the Jergen's gradual tanners (one type for face and one for body) and was frequently complimented on my "early tan" and "glow". I liked it because it was subtle and looked natural. And as another poster pointed out, if I started looking too dark, I'd just apply it less often. No steaking or weird orange spots. Good stuff.

I have tried Jergens' Medium (I'm a fairly pale Asian), but couldn't stand the smell after a while. So if you're gonna buy it, pop the top open and take a great big whiff first. Keep breathing it in, because that smell seems to linger forever.

I couldn't get it to work because I wasn't very religious at applying it. But it does seem to work for the others here.

- Do all of Jergen's products require you to apply it everyday for a week? And then after that week, how long will the bronze look stay on you? (You dont have to keep putting it on the next week, do u?)

Yeah, I don't want my gel/cream to be lingering ON my body.... that feels like sunblock to me blahhhhh!!

Hmmm... I'll check out the L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Gelee too! Laughing

How do you put the self-tanner on you equally?? do you apply it pretty much all over your body or only on the places that people can see??

I'm not thinking about putting any on my face because my face is a little on the tanned side anyways lol.

And after you finish putting it on... do you have to wait for some time before putting on clothes - in case the self-tanner stains your clothes? Does it ever stain your clothes normally? How long does the tanning last?

I think Jergens has one now that works faster, but the one the other posters are talking about you use every day and the colour gradually builds up. Some people like that cuz it's harder to screw it up, but I find it annoying. And it would last from a few days to maybe a week after you stop using it. They all last about the same length of time because it just depends on when the outer layer of your skin that is tanned gets sloughed off. It comes off faster if you take long showers or exfoliate etc. Also when I shave my legs a lot of it comes off.

I only bother applying it on areas that I know are going to be seen. If I'm going to the beach I'll put it all over, but if I'm going to be wearing a skirt I'll just put it on my legs. You'll have lines where you stop applying it but it just looks like normal tan lines that you'd get from the sun.

I don't use it on my face because I'm worried it will break me out. I've never done it so I don't know if it would, but I just use bronzer on my face and don't bother taking the chance.

I wait like 15-30 minutes after applying before I get dressed. I just put it on and then go do my hair and makeup and pick out my clothes and by then it should be dry. You can feel when it absorbs enough the same as moisturizer. It got on a white tank top of mine once cuz I got dressed to soon but I just washed it a couple times and the stain came out.

- what do you mean by doing it gradually???

- I'm an asian myself :) but im not pale. i mean... some ppl say I am, but I don't think I am THAT pale. I'm definitely darker than the typical koreans lol. Unlike most koreans who try sooo hard to retain their pale skin, I like being tan!!

Hmm... seems like the smell is the issue for the Jergens products... do they all smell the same??
