What is best source for B12
Just read an article on WebMD - regarding B12 and brain function. What are the best food sources for B12?? I thought you had to get shots..? Thanks for any info.
B12 is in quite a few foods, including meat, milk and eggs. One of the easiest sources of B-vitamins is Brewer's Yeast. You can find it at a health food store in pill form, or in flakes and powder. I actually enjoy the taste, but some people find it too bitter. I add it to salads, soups and mix with yogurt. It does fantastic things for your skin and hair, and has a ton of protein in addition to the B vitamins.
Mind you, my late grandmother... lived to 97 and sharp as a tack... kept her brain healthy by doing loads of crosswords.

Might also want to read up on fish oil and how that relates to brain function. Very beneficial.
You can also get B12 in a pill form they make several kinds....I take the pill form its easier to ensure I get enough plus too much B12 doesnt cause any side effects.
Apparently there are studies that show B12 pills are not bio-available. In other words they don't work so well.
I am not sure what study that is however, I can tell you from my own PERSONAL experience that B12 (pill form) does increase blood level B12 deficit markers....I know this to be factual. I am on them and my blood panel tests show it.
Have you, or anyone, tried the mouth spray B12? I don't remember the name...oops, guess that means I need some! LOL
I wouldn't worry about not getting enough B12. You'll be getting plenty if you eat meat and animal products, and normal body stores of vitamin B12 are enough to keep you going for 3-6 years even on the strictest vegan diet. Supplements or intramuscular shots are only recommended for those on a vegan diet, and for elderly people who sometinmes stop being able to absorb it properly
