the best thing ive realized through weightloss

Quote  |  Reply

i can eat more calories of the right foods which leads to me feeling good through my workouts which results in me reaching my goals! The sterotype with weightloss is that everyone thinks you have to starve yourself! OMG they are so wrong!

-sorry i felt like posting some random thoughts Laughing

Honey, what you've said sounds so simple, but some folks never get that.  Me, I can eat whenever I'm hungry, and I still lose weight!  It's all in chosing the right healthy foods.  I remember how it was back when I was in high school, starving myself, because we didn't know any better, and ending up after weeks of trying so hard with a 5 or ten pound loss, and then nothing more!  It's so much easier now that I know what I'm doing.

You know, I am glad you posted this.  Now that I am eating a much healthier diet and exercising regularly, it seems like I can eat a ton of food and still easily stay 500 calories or more below my burn amount. Typically, for breakfast, I have a couple cups of cereal or oatmeal with a cup of 1% milk and glass of apple cider, maybe a yogurt as a morning snack, a massive, massive salad with all sorts of goodies for lunch, some type of fruit or nuts for an afternoon snack, a reasonable dinner, and maybe a protein shake or protein bar after lifting or kayaking.  Definitely haven't been having hunger issues and there's enough leeway that I can treat myself every now and again.  Losing weight definitely does not need to be about being hungry all the time if you choose the right types of food to eat.

Wow, I thought it was just me! I have read on so many forums how people are having such a hard time with staying within their calorie needs or that they feel hungry all the time. And I would think, hmmm, I must be doing something wrong, cuz I don't feel that way at all!

I find that most days, I feel just right at the end of the day, and I'm usually a 50ish cals below my target, when I stay on the elliptical a little longer, it's because I have decided that tonight, I want Chocolate Espresso Chip Frozen Yogurt- 100 cals/2.5g fat, and I now call it my "crack in a bowl" it's soooo decadent.

I think what I'm going to find the hardest is trying to incorporate more calories into my diet as I near the end of my journey, to bring me up to maintenance.  When I truly don't feel like I "need" them... I guess I can just start adding croutons and cheese to my salads. YAY!

Good Post! Here's to feeling great while you lose weight!

I hear you on this one! My son had to bring in 2 food packages for his grade 2 health project, they're learning how to read labels (I thought this was pretty cool!) And he happened to be at my dad's place that night so he got his food packages from him. Well it was Oreos, and chocolate covered chocolate chip granola bars... Ugg! We went to an open house last night at the school, and there taped to the wall are the 2 packages that my son brought on the "Unhealthy" side. My dad's comment was "Both of those are unhealthy? But I like them..." I felt kinda bad for him, but he's 5'8", 300lbs and a type 2 diabetic. Hopefully, it was an eye opener. Although his 2 trips to the dietician to figure out his diabetic diet requirements have obviously not helped at all.

I'm happy you posted this too. It seems that people on here (not all but some) only care about dropping pounds, starving themselves to loose the weight.  I know many of us are scared of commitment, but if we've been struggling with weightloss our whole lives, then the only way to keep it off is through changing your lifestyle.  Someone just brought in some Dunkin Dounuts and offered it to me. Now I see food as a full sourse, and trust me, I LOVE TREATS, but why would I want my body to sufffer because my tastebuds where taking over?  I fill up on the really healthy, nutriant food throughout the day and I know I feel better and my workouts are giving me more confidence, but if I want a treat, I go for it.

Weightloss will never work if: You're starving yourself or if you're not getting fit for life.

Great post, thank you!

Today I reached the point of 10 more pounds! And guess what? I am going to DQ tonight for Banana Split! (510 beautiful calories)

I can do that because I incorporated into my calorie count for today. It's very simple and very achievable whilst being healthy.

Breakfast- PB and Banana Wrap-270

Snack- All Bran Bar- 130

Lunch- Salad with low cal Italian dressing- 100 and a yogurt- 80

Snack- 100 cal pack Reese's Snackster's

DinDin- Greek Chicken (which has a breast, feta cheese, tomatoes, olives, onions- YUM)- 595

Dessert- DQ Banana Split- 510

Total Calories- 1785

Total burn for today- 2375 (I run 5 -6 miles a day)

Deficit- 590

This is the best thing ever.

People need to realize the lifestyle change as mperic81 stated. It's fun once you get going, it's a challenge, and seeing the results is beautiful!

yes food to me is also just energy now.. i dont see it really much as anything else anymore.

one other thing some people dont eat as much because they dont have the time to exercise but excercise allows you to eat more which is always a good thing. It makes the journey of weightloss so much easier
