The best time for exercising is a time you can stick with, which may change on any given day.  For many, I think, this means making exercise a PART of your day as it already exists.....like biking to work, walking for errands.  I see you have a little one, well, walk with him in the stroller once a day to the park instead of driving him to a playgroup.

If you think you are the type that is in danger of not having energy by the end of the day, so it first thing after breakfast (or even before, I run before breakfast, before work then bike to work on nice days).

You've got to make it work for you.

Laughing i dont go out that much in here its too hot to go out with my baby

i was just curious that how long to wait before exercising like i cant exercise if i hv just had my lunch..

or like if i hv exercised how long to wait before eating anything

I prefer to exercise on an empty stomach, so I go to the gym before meals. If I'm feeling a little hungry, I'll eat an apple - the natural sugar gets you going and the fiber fills you up. If I work out after dinner I get very nauseous and feel lethargic.

Most health professioals/exercise therapists suggest eating a light meal (snack of 200-300 calories or so) about 1 hour before exercising so you will have enough energy for a work out. If you don't have enough fuel for your body, your performance will suffer. Even if you don't care about your "performance" (you aren't competing, etc) your ability to lift heavy weights, run faster, bike longer, etc will diminish. After a HARD workout, you will need to refuel your body with protein and complex carbs within 30 minutes for best results. The whole idea is not to eat too much before working out so that your body is diverting all of its energy trying to digest food and make you sick to your stomach. The best way to determine this for YOUR body is to try different meals with different exercises with different times.

Example: I get up about 6:30 or 7 and eat 7oz of 2% Fage yogurt and 100g of fresh fruit for about 200 calories. Then I leave for the gym within about 30 minutes to a spin class (15  minute drive, set up bike, etc). Class is an hour. Then maybe 1 hour of yoga. Afterwards, I am starving and have lunch! About 400 calories. (I don't like protein shakes, but right after the spin class would be a great time to have one or a protein bar.) If I work out later in the day instead, I may eat a banana or apple and an ounce of cheese 15-30 minutes before working out and then eat a good dinner within 1 hour of exercising. When I have made the mistake of working out right 30-60 minutes after a FULL dinner, I usually feel too full, burp (yuck!), or feel sluggish. Hope this answers your question.

carolann5111, you're advice is wonderful.  I've never had it spelled out like that before.  Thanks!

also make sure you have at least 200 calorie 2:1 ratio of carbs to protein after you workout...if it's intense cardio stick to 4:1
