Im a vegan and i need to really start looking for a good collage to go to, and i was wondering what the the most Vegetarian/Vegan friendly collages are.
College.
Don't know about collages, lol, but there are a few colleges, even in the beef-friendly state of Texas. UT-Austin and Austin College both come to mind.
I'm at UIUC (university of illinois at urbana champaign), and this is a pretty great place to be vegetarian/vegan. (:
depending on what you're interested in studying, UIUC is actually pretty good in quite a number of disciplines (accountancy, biochemistry, agriculture/environment related studies and engineering especially. (: )
College towns are usually pretty veg-friendly in general, even when the surrounding areas aren't. If you're looking for a really veg-friendly part of the country, I'd recommend the San Francisco Bay area or the Pacific northwest. You'll find more vegetarians in the communities there, and more options for restaurants and markets.
You could make a veg-friendly collage with pictures from Vegetarian Times.
(sorry, couldn't help it.)
Loma Linda University in California. They serve only vegetarian food.
I went to Lewis & Clark College in Portland Oregon and there were always vegetarian and vegan options. Lots of jokes about Seitan. Also they have ice cream at every dinner.
You should really pick a college for other reasons though -- food can always be purchased/aquired.

I live only like, a half hour away from there. The entire town of Loma Linda is completely vegi-fied, because its full of 7-day Adventists.
I do the brunt of my grocery shopping there, its pretty cool.
I hope this is not your primary criterion for choosing a college! Also, you will get a very wide range of answers since there are colleges and universities all over the place that are veg-friendly. You might get more helpful replies if you can narrow it down to your intended field of study and perhaps a general location. It would be best for you if you could find schools that have a good program in your field, and then once you know those you can look at location and veg-friendliness to narrow it down to a few to apply to.
Good luck!
have you considered one of the "five colleges" in the Happy Valley? UMass, Smith, Mount Holyoke, Amherst and Hampshire....
The whole Western Mass connecticut valley area is very veg-friendly...Umass Amherst even has a student run vegetarian cafe on campus.

Yes a veg friendly collage is deff. not going to be the main deciding factor in where i go, it would just be nice if it was. I live in Arizona and i think i am leaning toward some sort of engineering. thanks!
i agree with socioval, UT austin is great. university of north texas is good too, they have GOOD vegan food at all their cafeterias (not just a "vegan bar" which is actually a salad bar)

People are voting, so who know's how accurate it is, but worth thinking about.
The University of Oregon is a great veg friendly school...especially because the surrounding community is very organic/vegetarian. And unless you plan to live on campus for all 4 years (which is really expensive, I must say), it is important to consider what the town is like. Aside from UO, many colleges in the Pacific Northwest will be great for vegans/vegetarians.
Big thing...AVOID the SOUTH. People may question why this is a big deal...but trust me, it is. I attended a southern university for one term, lived on campus, and could barely find anything to eat. The majority of the food was based on beef or chicken...and any vegetables that I could find were slathered in butter. (while this was true to a certain extent within the whole town, it was especially true of the on campus meal options)
Perhaps you should worry less about what colleges serve veg food and concentrate more on your spelling, or else you'll never get into any of them. :)
Quite. A collage is much different than a college.

yep, I live there, all 5 are extremely veg friendly especially hampshire n smith.
the university of arizona is pretty good. they list a bunch of vegan and vegetarian options on their website for things to eat around campus.
University of City of Minnesota Morris, it's a liberal arts college.
I second tweety21872, i'm a vegetarian engineering-math major at University of Arizona. I'm happy with both the gastronomic and academic aspects of my school! Can get vegan tacos, burgers, wraps, hotdogs, salads, etc. on campus, plus there's quite a few vegan and vegan-friendly establishments nearby.
There's also a little animal-rights campus group here, "SOAR", and though I'm not a member, it seems like they do some neat stuff like volunteering at a pig sanctuary, bake sales, etc.
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
