Quote  |  Reply
HALLOWEEN is coming.. I see chocolate everywhere around me and I get crazy. After 6 months of dieting and losing a lot of weight, I miss chocolate. During this period, I have been avoiding it by all means. I haven't had it for 6 months and now I just go to the store to have a look at it.

what will you do when Halloween comes? what is the best way to control your chocolate craving?

Portion control is everything.

When I want chocolate, I have one of those miniature Dove squares of chocolate (only dark, I don't care for other kinds). YUM. One perfect square does it for me.
I will allow myself one small piece and log it into my calories like I do for everything else!  It's not good to deprive yourself.  You should have a taste!  Chocolate is SO yummy!
I know it is yummy... I hate dark chocolate... I miss chocolate cake:((( double chocolate cake. I am just afraid if I start eating a small piece, I will end up having the whole pie.

Why chocolate??? I don't know.. why not ice cream or candy? something about chocolate I don't know.
I buy the little York Pepper Mint Patties (70 Calories) the small squares of Dove are great?sugar free chocolate pudding cups (60 calories) Fudge pops-no sugar added (40 Cals for the small pops) Also REALLY like the Fiber One bars with the chocolate chips?tons of fiber 9 grams and it feels like I?m eating a chocolate candy bar! Also the Peanut butter/chocolate rice crispy treats (100 Calories) Byers does a 100 calorie cookies and cream ice cream cup.  Also Skinny cow Ice cream sandwiches (140 calories) or Slim-A-Bear all chocolate ones (100 Calories)

I refuse to deny myself chocolate. Instead, I have what I'm craving and make sure I have room for it. :) I like the 100 cal packs of chocolatey snacks.

I also let myself have a few Milano's ever once in a blue moon.

If I have no chocolate in the house - I usually make a cup of tea - I prefer Earl Grey. :) I use SteviaPlus instead of sugar. :)

It's just chocolate. You'll live without it.
I drink diet hot cocoa! it does the trick for me, definitely. I also want to try the new dark chocolate/mint 3 Musketeers bars.. I'm a HUGE fan of dark chocolate.
There's a dark/mint chocolate chip 3 Musketeers bar? NOOO!!! Mint chocolate anything is my downfall! This is absolutely horrible!
Luna Caramel Nut Brownie Bar is a good start, or Kashi Cherry Dark Chocolate bar. chocolate fix with health benefits
have a few Hershey's kisses. I only occasionally get chocolate cravings, and when I do, it's kisses or one square of Dove milk chocolate.
I know this may sound crazy, but I when I want chocolate I get a cappuccino with cocoa on top... it is the smell and usually a slight taste of chocolate... if that doesn't do it... I go for a few bite size pieces of chocolate.
If Halloween is haunting you DON'T buy any bags of the small "fun size" (or should I say "ton" size) candy bars before Halloween night.  Even if its the best sale ever, or given to you free.  Its not worth the risk.  I've always found that an open bag is an empty bag.

An Oats 'n Chocolate Fiber one bar or a kashi cookie with choc chips in it with your hot beverage of choice might do the trick.

I really sympathize with you - I'm dealing with my own Halloween demons!
Even as I have been carefully counting calories and percentages, I always left room for my nightly chocolate fix.
I really enjoy Hershey's Special Dark snack size, only 40 calories a piece. And one piece is enough to satisfy my craving. Since I know during the day that I will have one before bed, it's no biggie to wait until then.
Another good chocolate craving fix is the " No Sugar Added Popsicles " at about 50 calories a piece, and nice and cold from the freezer.
Hope this helps.
do-rey-mi--I forgot to add that they're only 150 cals each! hehe
I love chocolate to, I'd rather have a bowl of chocolate chips over sex even......  I keep a big hersheys bar in my freezer, and pull off a piece when I need it, and let it melt in my mouth, that usually does it.  Chocolate is actually good for you (In moderation ofcourse) It boosts serotonine levels to boost your mood, and the darker versions are high in antioxidents!
Thanks for all the support. that is what I really need:) I am in pain...

My fix right now is swissmiss hot chocolate diet and it is only 25 cals. but again. I miss biting chocolate.

I used to have a whole pie in one setting. I think I have to deal with this. Thanks guys.

I was going to suggest hot chocolate too. I do it with powdered milk, cocoa and sweetener, so it is a dairy serving.
Shiptona: can I prepare it and then let it cool and freeze it as a cold treat???
buy ONE bar of your favourite chocolate or ONE mini chocolate muffin. Just one. Savour it and be satisfied. If you still feel like more there won't be any around because you've only bought ONE! 0 risk of bingeing, simple! By the time you are done drinking some water and brushing your teeth you won't even remember that you wanted some more :)

Yep diet hot cocoa is one way.  Or I'll have chocolate milk made with skim milk.  If you make it with Nestle's quick you can control how much sugary choclate syrup you put in.... but it's very filling, satisfying and good for you.

Sometimes desperate times call for desparate measures- I will have a fat free chocolate pudding.  Those 100 cal chocolate bars fill the gap too.
