what is your best weight loss tip?

Mine:
Chew gum while cooking.  It keeps you from snacking.

That is awsome I eat half a meal while cooking
My absolute best tip? Concentrate on Better Health, not Lower Weight.
Best tip?  Patience.  It didn't pile on over night, and its also not going to COME OFF over night.

Second best tip?  Ease of weight GAIN is not equal to ease of weight LOSS.  Get over it.  It will always be easier to gain weight than lose it...deal with it :-P (unless you're a super skinny person who can't gain weight, so that doesn't aply to you!! haha)
Don't get stressed... it only makes weight loss more difficult and some people even retain weight while stressed... take it one day at a time and just breathe :)

take care
My best tip is this....

Go into lowering your bodyweight as a LONG TERM plan.  Realize that healthy eating and exercising is a LIFESTYLE change, not just something you do to see quick results.

My 2nd best tip is this.....

Be patient, and aim to lose about 1-2 pounds per week if you want to lose mostly fat without sacrificing lean muscle along the way.  Remember, the more muscle you hang on to or build along the way, the more calories you'll burn, even while at rest.

My best weight loss tip: "You have to EAT to LOSE"!!!  There are a ton of overweight people out there that eat only ONCE a day, so obviously starving yourself & allowing yourself to eat once a day only is not the way to go.  What will you do differently today that will give you different results? Eat small meals, ideally 5-6 a day.  It keeps the body & metabolism fueled for optimal calorie burning. :-)

My tip that is fool proof!

DRINK A LITRE OF WATER FOR EVERY 50lbs OF BODY WEIGHT YOU HOLD.

If your body is properly hydrated, the pounds will just fall off.

Don't drink it all at once either, you need to spread it over the entire day for your body to ACTUALLY benefit from it.
patience and water are key. i've never realized how important water really is until recently.
My best tip-

Eat 5-6 times a day (for me that is 3 main meals, and two half meals (cal wise)  ).   This keeps your metabolism going all day, keeps your blood sugar on par, and helps prevent binging.

2nd Best tip-

really start focusing on your cal breakdown-

stay within these ranges:  40-50% carbs, 25-35% protein,20-30 % fat.

if you work out lots- try to keep your protein up on the higher end of the range to keep you from losing too much muscle mass.
I like how finewine calls it "piling on"... that pretty much sums it up!
Don't give in and you WILL lose the weight, and if you falter, don't beat yourself up and give in, just get back on the bandwagon for the long haul journey.....
Remembering it is a lifestyle change and not a diet.   Don't completely deprive yourself of the things you love.  Moderation is key.
Qaulity not quantity.

I am allowed much more quality food then I am processed food. Dont think about it as eating less, but eating better. For if you eat better (quality), you'll find your allowed more (quantity). The worse the quality, the less quantity you can eat before it goes to ... well those places we just dont want it to go to.
Stay happy and don't force yourself to eat foods that you hate just because they are SOOOO good for you. For example:

I tried to force myself to drink green tea a couple of times because I kept hearing how good it was for the body, I couldn't drink it. I almost gagged on it.

Make the healthy food that you eat taste good for you. If you have to add dressing to your salad because you can't stand the taste of plain lettuce, then add dressing (find a good low-cal or fat-free dressing that you will like, for example), just don't go overboard.

While losing some of your favorite fatty high-cal foods may be painful at first, you will be a hundred times happier being able to fit in your motivation pants than any gap in happiness a piece of cake can offer. And every day you refrain from making healthy eating choices is AT LEAST one more day that you have to wait to fit in those pants.
realizing certain bad [too sugary or salty] snacks instantly make my tummy instantly puff out

when I carefully watch what I eat my waistline feels smaller even if my weight stays the same grrrr
i think mine is "get over it"

when you have that one bad day, just close that door and move on. I used to binge eat because I knew I could... now if I "subconsciously rebel" I just move on and do better the next meal.... not the next day or week.
Don't worry about losing weight - worry about living healthy.
exercise is key.  you have to do it!!!

one of my tips is actually cook meals for people.  I live in a big household so when I cook I have to go back and forth from the dining room to the kitchen to check on food and make sure everything is prepared. then I by the time I sit down, there isnt much left so I dont over eat.
