Is it better to have a high fiber diet or high protein diet?

I'm just not sure what is better - eating more of fiber or protein.
Answer
Fiber and protein are very different, and so it’s as if you’ve asked if sun is better than rain. The answer: We need both in the right balance. In the US, dietary fiber intake is very low and that contributes to health problems, such as diverticulosis and heart disease. In addition, most Americans eat more protein than they need because meat protein crowds out plant fiber in the diet. And so, if you are like most people, you should work on increasing your intake of fiber and assume your intake of protein is good enough.
