Are you better during the week or the weekend

Quote  |  Reply

I used to think that it was easier during the weekend to stick with my diet because I have time to exercise, no work lunches/dinners and have the time to cook healthy. Now that I'm counting calories, I realize that my weeks are usually ok and I rack up 2000+ calories a day on the weekends. SUPRISE.

What's it like for you?

My weekends are always bad! Hubby, friends, and family do it in for me. :)

Im really good during the week because Im home alone with my baby. So I have time to cook and no bf around to make unhealthy foods. Im actually still pretty good during the weekend but its not easy. Ive sat at restaurants with friedns and just drank water. Ive also sat at my family in laws house in front of big bowls of pasta, bread, lasagna, and fatty sausage and just drank water. They are italian so that is how it always is at their house so I usually eat before or wait to eat when I get home. Its not easy though, pasta is easily one of my favorite foods.

I actually find the weekends easier. I work 12 hours a day and my days start at 3:30am and go til 9 or so at night so there are way more hours in my weekdays than their are in my weekend days. I'm a lot hungrier during the week because I have to stretch my calories a whole lot farther and I tend to have an abundance of calories leftover at the end of the day on the weekends with which I can splurge.

It depends...

For me, I pretty much stay right on target with my calorie intake during the week. I am up at 6am and eat small meals/snacks throughout the day, so I rarely overeat. I also plan my meals out for the week and have the same snacks on hand so I know exactly how much of a "treat" I can have. I also exercise more frequently during the week.

On the weekends, if I stay home I sleep in late and I end up under eating. And by sleeping in late, I mean waking up around noon or 1pm. HAH. Also, since I am home - I exercise. So these weekends (typically) are good for me.

The weekends I go to visit my bf - well they are usually not as good. The main reason being his family always eats out for every meal, so it is hard to manage my meals and select healthy filling choices (that won't get scrutinized). I do bring "survival" food with me (100 calorie packs, granola bars, peanuts, ect.) so in case I dont have any good options, I can try to fill up on those. But these are also the weekends I don't exercise - sigh. And I don't get to log my calories until after the fact - and by then, there is no way to undo the "over eating."

I'm definitely better during the week. We don't have any food here at work so I can only eat what I bring from home, usually a banana and then lunch.

On weekends I'm OK as long as I'm busy. But if I'm at home and bored it is a disaster! LOL

weekends kill me, while I get to do a longer workout cause of the free time, I usually partake in some drinking with friends. I love me some margaritas and boy are they terrible for you!

weekends probably because there's less chance of a complete binge as my family are all there.

better during the week.  weekends have too many unknown variables.

I'm a lot better during the week because I have a set schedule.  On weekends, it's up in the air.  Plus, weekends are like OMG TIME TO GO OUT! So, that's what we do..we go out..we eat.  But that gives me experience, exercising my eating out healthily tips.

I agree with jennlett.  I do better during the week because I have a schedule and structure.  I have to do certain things at certain times and I plan for meals and things because I know if I don't bring something to eat, I will not have the opportunity to go get something.

One thing I used to do when I first started to make my weekends better was set a timer on my cell phone for every three hours.  When the timer went off, I knew it was time to eat, regardless of whether I was hungry or not.  If I was hungry, I'd eat a meal, if not just a snack (like a piece of fruit or some cottage cheese).  After a while I didn't have to set the timer because I would think about it on my own.

Also, it might not be such a bad thing for you to be eating 200-300 calories over your weekly amount on the weekends because then you won't get into a slump where eating under your daily amount isn't helping you loose weight anymore; it changes things up for you.  So if you are still losing, I'd say, don't worry about it.

definitely during the week! i have a schedule and i love that i only have time to eat at certain times. then friday comes along and i don't have any obligations and i see myself bored and just eating to eat.

I'm better on the weekends. I'm sort of a closet eater, which means I like to eat "bad" foods when no one's watching me. I'm home alone for eight hours a day during the week, but on the weekends there's usually other people in the house. I stick to my plan because if someone in my family saw me scarfing down cookies, they'd say something like, "Uh... aren't you supposed to be on a diet?" and I'd be embarrassed.

Lol, peer pressure as a diet tool. My family is just too darn supportive! They make it hard to cheat.

yea u guys, i feel so much the same :[

it's more difficult to control my diet on the weekends and sometimes i just wanna be nice and treat myself to something so this weekend, i rammed up to 3120 calories coz i had a 1335 calorie iHOP big steak omlette breakfast and ate homemade italian food at night, omg... i wonder when are the flabs going to show up!

oh and i hate the fact that my parents forces it down and make me eat so much, i was 104lbs last week and now i am up to 108!  darn....another diet plan!

P.S. i realize milk and bagels are super calorieful geez how i wish i could eliminate those from my diet..

I have a terrible time controlling my diet on weekends. During work days I have set my days to eat what I have established for that day, so that's all I bring to work, my healthy snacks, protein bars, protein shakes, I also have 1 hour of lunch that I use to work out.

Now on weekends is another matter. I'm usually very busy the first day of the weekend, with grocery shopping, house cleaning. But after that I have the entire day and the next day to do absolutely nothing. And those are the only 2 week days I cook for both me and my husband, and he likes to eat well. So then I have a way harder time with my eating.

But little by little I'm managing to work on my food. For a few weeks I was not logging my foods on weekends cuz I was like ''i'm eating too much, I don't wanna see what I'm eating, I'll go back to logging them on week days that I exercise and eat well''

Then I decided to give it a try one weekend, and eat everything I wanted and write down every single bite. Without thinking of calories, empty beer calories, ice cream, everything. I pretty much spent the entire day eating and the next day I sat at work and logged. I was like :O 9165 calories. I said to myself never again.

I still have days I do 3000 cal, but that's nothing like 9000 cal in a 24 hours period, that's just insane.

As for me its I am good till dinner comes because my boyfriend cooks for us. So not the week or the weekend. Just dinner, which I am trying to correct.

Weekends were the worse for me before my husband joined me in loosing weight. Now Weekends are just as easy as Weekdays. :)

My biggest thing is that I make a menu which includes snacks and meals for the entire week. Sunday to Saturday. If I know what is in the fridge and what I have scheduled for us to eat we are excellent and maybe splurge on a guilt free 2% banana milkshake on Sunday afternoons. :)

Weekends take the cake (quite literally:-)  I find i'm not as busy so i have more time on my hands to be bored...which leads to constant snacking!!

One of the first on-going arguments my husband (then boyfriend) and I had was how much oil he was using to cook with. I hear you! He's Italian and used to cooking with a healthy (or not) dose of olive oil. It's good oil, but at 120 calories a tablespoon it can set any diet in the wrong direction. Problem is, he's a fantastic cook!  He's learned over the years and I've lightend up.

Now it's either the kids who derail me, or the fact that I have a chance to get out of the house (no kids allowed) and drink a few extra glasses of wine. So it's definitely the weekends that are more difficult for me.

Personally for me, weekdays are a lot easier. I seem to be prone to munching out on weekends. xD
during the week I'm usually very very good--weekends? That's a different story.

I usually start Friday off right but depending on if my friend's and I are drinking or not... that's where I find my diet either making it or breaking it. Sometimes I indulge in drun-ches (muches but with the drunk before it) and other times I don't.

It's a vicious vicious cycle
