Bicycle Across the Country Challenge - Start April 1st

Quote  |  Reply

I love to ride my bike but haven't found anything for us cyclers.

The challenge is to log enough miles on a bicycle (doesn't matter if it is stantionary or outside bike riding) that would basically be a trip from Seattle, Washington to Houlton, Maine. Accrording to Google that is 3,394 miles. I know this is far but I am not looking for an ending time. Just something for fun and too help motivate myself to exercise regularly.

So let me know who is interested. We will start April 1st. You can send your miles weekly or daily or once a month! And if you want to have a goal to lose so many lbs by the end of the "trip" or have another goal to finish by a certain time, add that on. I will help keep track of it all!

Good Luck!

My goal is to finish by November 30th. My currect weight is 265.

I am definitely up for that, my current weight is 298

This is my first look at the forums, and I already found something I would love to do!  I bicycle and spin a lot, almost every day, but I've never kept track of my miles. This will be an awesome challenge to accomplish!

My current weight is 138.  I'd like to shoot for completing this in 16 weeks, at about 30.3 miles a day.

Yeah, I can't say how long it will take me but it's definitely gonna be the full trip.  Maybe one day I'll actually bike to somewhere instead of just the miles around home...

Wow mustbikefaster! 30 miles a day! I wish I could do that without my knees following off!

I'm like Aaron...I will get it done no matter how long it takes. Maybe you getting done so quickly will help motivate me to do more miles per day!

Welcome!

Okay, one more day off before the big ride. Let's get ready to rock...

I'd like to ride along!

My current weight is 252. I don't know how long it will take me but I'm willing to stick it out.  I've been using my exercise bike most days (I need to get my bike fixed now that Spring is almost here) but right now only do 3-6 miles a day so maybe this will motivate me increase my time on the bike.

Welcome augette!

Anyone else want to join us starting April 1st is more than welcome! We will keep it open so you can join us anytime!

I logged 350 miles outdoors for the month of March, that brings my ytd total to 400.  I should reach the goal of 3400 miles by the end of August.

So I hope everyone gets a good start today. I didn't make it yet but I plan on going after my doctors appt this afternoon.

Like I said before you can report however ofter you want. If you don't remember where you are at, let me know.

Let's get out and peddle!

This sounds awesome.  I will let you know later today how many miles I get done today.  I'm hoping to complete this October 4 (my one year wedding anniversary) the latest and perhaps have lost 15lbs by then...we'll see!

I rode 20 miles today to get things started.

I'm off to a good start - 10.5 miles

yesterday was 6.75 miles for me...not too bad

Well, glad everyone else started off. I have this heart monitor I have to wear 24 hrs. They told me to do all my normal stuff but since I can't shower I didn't want to get myself too sweaty. (Yes I took a bath but it isn't the same) Plus all these cords keep getting in my way!

I finally got on my bike! I did 8.31 miles this morning. I am hoping to ride some more tonight. I have to catchup somehow!

I'm a couple days late but I'd like to join.  I ride a recumbent bike at the gym and also cycle around my little town when the weather cooperates.  I did 5.04 miles at the gym this week.  It might take me awhile, but I think this would be a great challenge for me.  Weight: 153.0 today.

14.75 total

After a slow start, I'm up to 85 miles.

19.6 miles

Didn't manage to get any miles in Friday/Saturday but made sure to get up early today and did 6.1 miles.  I'm hoping to log some more this afternoon. We'll see how the day goes.

I just did 12.31 miles this evening. I have to start doing this everyday...Otherwise I might never make it across 1 state let along the whole countrySmile
