Big celebration meal -What should I eat?
Hello everyone :)
I have been doing this diet for 2 month now and lost 22pounds.
I am very pleased with it but my boyfriend is so annoyed, he misses the time when we use to eat tones of fatty food together.
Saturday I am going to France for a few month and I agreed to have a big meal to celebrate tonight. My boyfriend made me promise to not order vegetables.
We will order food from an italian restaurant, they do burgers, pizzas, pasta and chicken...
What would be the safest thing to eat and not completely ruin my diet?
Thank you!
Well if you can't order veggies, order something with lots of veggies in/on it!!
You could order a great pizza with lots of veggies, or a pasta/chicken/veggie dish with a light sauce (not a butter or alfredo sauce), or a chicken dish with veggies on the side!! I wouldn't go for the burger as your boyfriend would probably frown upon order a salad instead of fries :)
good luck and enjoy! and splurge a litte!!, 22 pounds in 2 months is fabulous...one meal won't ruin the progress you have made!
I would recommend ordering whatever sounds good, and remembering to eat in moderation. I'm not trying to start an argument, but especially if you are going out to eat -so he can order tons of fatty stuff if he so chooses- what gives him the right to be irritated that you care about your body and want to eat healthy? It kind of hits a chord with me because I have some friends who are the same way now and again. I don't get it--when I was chubby I had everyone's full support with the whole dieting thing. Now that I am svelte and trim and getting closer and closer to my goal, everyone has got something to say about how MY diet is bothering THEM (and I'm not talking about they have to eat my food--I'm talking they pack their lunch, I pack mine). What the heck is up with THAT!?
Wow, I guess I had to get that little vent out of the way.. sorry... so yeah anyway, order what YOU want, and try to visualize what the serving sizes should be. And maybe call ahead or go online to see if you can get the nutritional info for their menu items--being prepared in advance makes it much easier to be good.
Good luck!
If it were me I'd maybe get some pasta with tomato base sauce (i'd avoid any alfredo/cream based sauces) or go get a burger, but order it without mayo. Chicken marsala is really good too! It's one night and you did promise your boyfriend to let loose one night. Have fun and drink lots of h20.
I completely agree with you - People get annoyed with me as well because I am being careful with what I eat - How dare they get annoyed? It's not like if I was forcing them to eat what I eat.
His excuse is "You're going to have veggies again and we wont have a nice time". It makes me sound like I'm ruining it all. Anyway, I understand how you feel, it's very annoying when people get on your nerves about something, which is after all, personal.
Thanks for the advice by the way, and it's nice to see I am not the only one who goes through that.
Hi,
Awesome loss!!! The great thing about accomplishments are the rewards. I am sure you are feeling great about the weight loss as you deserve. So make tonight not only special and a favor for your boyfriend, but also for you. Order something you like off the menu that you will love to eat, but maybe you know has a smaller portion. Have your small salad or veggie to go with. Mainly have great conversation with your guy and alot of eye contact. If you eat even a little of the food that you really love, he'll probaly see you are really enjoying yourself. My opinion ( so take it how it really fits you) is that your boyfriend may not be missing the ...You eating the fatty foods with him, but what he is missing is the fun time you guys had before when calorie count wasn't on your mind. So for that dinner night, I'd say plan ahead, figure out what you'll order ahead of time and the calorie intake, don't tell him any of that and eat what you have earned. A great night out with your man. And wear an awesome dress!!!!
Lol...burgers at an italian place? Somehow doesn't fit, but whatever. ![]()
Honestly, it's your night to enjoy yourself and get whatever you want. But don't pig out for your boyfriend- I honestly can't wrap my mind around that fact that he'd care, unless you were pressuring him to eat like you. Whatever food you've missed the most, just get that. And don't sweat it! 22 pounds in two months is ridiculously good!
Chew your food well, drink water (or wine) between every few bites, and you'll probably eat less and still be very satisfied at the end of the night. Unless you're planning on just going for it, haha! Great job, and good luck for the future!
I say, get whatever the heck you want! You dont have to eat it all, usually when I got out I eat half or 2/3 of what I order and have the rest for lunch. I couldnt live knowing theres food out there that I couldnt eat ever again, especially the fatty things I love.
If you lost 22 pounds, one meal can't completely ruin your diet (your words OP), no matter how crazy you go. It's a special occasion, so as long as you keep it straight in your mind that this is an excursion and not a return to old form, eat as much of whatever you feel like eating. Cheat days can be increasingly rediculous in inverse proportion to their frequency. Meaning: if you have a lot of "cheat days," one a week or so, they should be pretty tame. One a month, they should be moderate. One every two months? ... as long as it's really just one cheat day, there isn't anything you can do in one meal to sabotage the progress you've made. You'll see a bump up for a few days if your body has to process a huge load of food, alcohol and salt, but it will go away again, and quickly. Personally, almost half of my days lately are cheat days, so I'd be having the broth-based soup and a piece of grilled fish for dinner. But this post isn't about MY issues :)
Have something that makes you happy. The pleasure you get from eating is what your boyfriend wants to share with you.
Well first of all congratulations! That's a big accomplishment! Second of all, one day of eating "fatty foods" isn't going to set you back at all. What I'd do in your place is save up calories for that dinner. Eat lightly before so that you can splurge on the celebration dinner. Just have one day of good ole eating, you deserve a cheat dinner! Then just get back to your regimen the next day! Have a great time at your dinner and enjoy France!
COngrats!
if you dont want to splurge entirely, i'd get grilled chicken parm or grilled chicken primavera! they are both good (the latter one is healthier than the former).
if you want to splurge, though, get w/e you want and make sure only to eat half of it.
