Big girls can jog!
I weigh 204 and started the Couch to 5K program. Man I hate it when people just stare at the fat girl jogging. I wear two bras so its not that. I think they are jealous and wondering why they are not out jogging. Anyone have this problem?
On the other forum I visit there is a thread called "Awesome things you've seen at the gym." I frequently see posts about bigger people working out. You are an inspiration to others when you jog, don't forget that.
I finished Couch to 5k recently, it's such a good program. Good luck to you!

I am a big girl who has recently worked up to jogging. I am so proud that I am able to do it that I don't care what people think. They are probably just jealous of us anyway..lol.
Yeah..the two bra thing..I am so looking forward to that being over..lol
Keep up the good work :)

I started at 208 but now 198. I hike up this trail where there is a forest service road and jog up there. It is new for me to jog. I just do it intermittent at the moment. I counted up to 225 today on one of my jog spurts. At first I could only count up to 10 so I am really happy!
jjlewis--- That's funny you should mention this!!
The other day, I was at my mom's house and there was this girl jogging by, she was maybe 220 or so.. Well, I'm about 60 or so pounds lighter, and I swear to you, this is what I thought.
"Good for her! She's a bigger girl and she's jogging.. Why the hell can't I jog?"
I don't even know the girl and I was proud of her for having the courage to get out and jog... I can't even do that!!

You guys are so cool! Thanks for the extra encouragement!
I weighed around 200 pounds and I could run a mile without slowing down. The ultimate acheivement was when my skinny friend decided she wanted to join me one day and could barely make a quarter mile without getting out of breath. The fat girl's victory!!!
Seeing larger people jogging always encourages me. I feel like shouting encouragements at them, and always silently say "I'm proud of you" its good to see people changing their life for the better. I'm also way jealous, since when I started jogging at 205 lbs, I always went out at 5am so no one would see me, and only now at 150 am I able to go out when people are around.
I'm at 199.2 and I've been jogging for about 3 weeks now. It is the ONLY thing that makes my scale move on a consistant basis.
Not to mention the fact I was trying to get dressed for church yesterday and I was late...everything I kept trying on was too BIG!
Size doesn't matter...it's all about your mindset. I'm very determined to get the other 60 pounds off and that's why I lace up my shoes each evening!
Just keep jogging...just keep jogging...just keep jogging...lol

When I went out yesterday I was about to loop around to stay on the side streets but I yelled at myself and said get your butt on the main road and lets do this. As long as I don't give a crap what people think, I'll be A-OK!
Chubby it is good to hear that it does make the pounds drop. I have been stuck for almost 3 weeks! I am 198.5 right now and when I work out I say to myself 190...190...190... It keeps me motivated! So cool your clothes are too big! Yippie!!!
I started jogging around a month ago and I always felt like ppl were looking at me, until one of the personal trainers at the gym I know quite well said that ppl were so into their own workout that they really didnt care about anyone else, that made me feel better because I always felt like they were thinking "look at that fat cow, why is she bothering!!" But its also nice to hear from the personal trainer that he had been watchign me and was pleased that i was doing so well!!
I see a couple of you have mentioned the Couch to 5K program. Where did you find that? I had been running a couple of years ago, but...... Do I need to go further?? I want to start up again, but I want to be balanced and follow a program.
Couch to 5k. Have fun!

Here is the "Couch to a 5K" website. I am on week 2 and I already feel like I am making progress. I am a COMPLETE beginner who has NEVER run before, ever, and while it is kicking my arse I feel like it is a great addition to my current routine.
jjlewis, I wish I had the courage to run outside. Currently I only run on the treadmill at the gym. Kudos to you for doing so well! I, for one, am duly impressed!! Keep up the good work!! Best of luck to you!

Hey JJ! OMG, I wish I could jog. I see people of all sizes power walking and jogging...I can't seem to do either! I can walk but for me fast is 3mph! Lol
Anyway I totally agree with Guera! Good for her, for you, for anyone who can! Why can't I???
Oh yeah...one step at a time for me. I'll hope to be joining you all in your jogging one day!
Inspire away people!!!! :)

Good for you jjlewis - It makes me so happy to see people really putting effort into their workouts, no matter what size. I would much rather see a larger person jogging than some of those super thin girls who aren't doing much at all, except walking around the gym looking "pretty". Plus, when I see a larger person giving it their all, I think to myself if they can do it I have no excuse not to. It is really encouraging.
Yeah Congrats on jogging. It's not that I necessarily hate jogging I just would much rather go on the elliptical than jog. My dad is buying an elliptical from SAMS club for 350.
Thanks for the link. I will put it to good use.
Well done ! When I first started going to a gym I wore 3 BRAS!! now ive lost some weight I only use one!!
Tip of a sensitive nature!! use Vitamin E oil or the stuff from the chemists for pregnant people on your tummy and thighs and boobs. It really helps ping your skin tighter and prevents the enevitable stretch marks from losing weight. It worked for me and my husband. If you cant get those just moisturize loads!
