Big Night Out Tomorrow - Help
Ok - tomorrow is really going to be tricky so I need some advice.
Firstly I work a ten hour shift - 8am-6pm (not including the two hour round trip there and back), which always leads to me eating badly. That's not a problem though - my will power is strong right now and I'll force myself to stay away from the bad stuff.
Problem is after that I've then agreed to go out clubbing 'til 1am (I'm clearly insane) and that is going to mean a lot of alcohol consumption - especially as it's a free bar.
Before anyone complains that I don't *have to drink* I should say that this will be my first night out clubbing since before Christmas and my first night of not being the designated driver in about 9 months. Plus my closest friend who I usually hide out in a quiet spot can't come (she's very pregnant) so I'll be dragged out to dance by her wild sister and to make matters worse, my the ex who dumped me will be there too...no one could not consume alcohol in those circumstances. ;D
I found the calorie count of my drink of choice (Malibu and Diet Coke - 51 cals) and going by that I'm going to be consuming at least 600 calories - maybe more. Although I will try and water in down with plain diet cokes.
Any tips as to how I can mitigate the damage?
p.s Sorry is this seems rambling, but this will be the first big 'test' of my diet. Having a night like this less than a week in is not ideal...
First, bravo for planning ahead. Second, enjoy yourself. Everyone deserves to have a little fun. Third, healthy eating teaches us control so just remember that it is okay to loosen up, but be careful not to lose too much control of yourself or your night, diet or otherwise. :)
Also, if you like to eat when drunk, make sure you eat healthy before you go and have healthy snacks waiting for you at home (or better yet, put them in your car) -- I am notorious for chowing down on nachos, pizza, etc when I'm drinking.
Malibu & diet coke is my favorite drink! Yum...
Can I suggest alternating each alcoholic drink with water? The hardest thing for me about drinking less when I go out now, is not having something to hold and feeling awkward. It helps to hold even a glass of water (most people assume it's vodka if it's in a regular glass). Added benefit - you'll be less dehydrated! 600 calories of malibu and diet coke is a lot...do you really want to have 12 drinks?! Or does that include some food allowance? I know you're not driving, but 12 drinks is really just a lot, and your health and safety (and pride, if you get stupid when drunk like I do) are just as important as enjoying yourself as much as possible.
Thanks for the support guys. And I know Malibu = pure yumminess!
Thankfully food won't be an issue - the club doesn't serve food and our town is very small so nothing will be open at that time!
600 calories is taking in to account that the night will start with a couple of 'neat' Malibus at home before we get started...
What I will do it have a glass of water every 3 drinks or so and hopefully that will help!
just a thought, if you haven't drank since before Christmas, your tolerance should be way down. You should make sure and think about that.
Also, I'm sure you have considered this, but be really careful about not eating earlier in the day to compensate for the extra calories.
Alcohol + empty stomach x 1 infuriating ex = probable disaster :)
A little tip: make sure to shake your booty on the dance floor! Burns a lot of cals and is tons of fun = win/win. :D You can look at it as showing off your new body, and if for some reason you are embarrassed at the though, hopefully those Malibus will take care of that.
Edited to add: Also, if you are going all out with the real drinks before heading to town, you could try having another favourite that you have missed, since you will be having light versions of the Malibu later - just a tip for adding diversity and more enjoyment to your evening.
Just to add, if this is your first time drinking in a while, what happens to me always is a major increase in the scales over the following 3 days so dont freak out, its not the extra calories, just be sure to drink plenty of extra water to flush out the retention, have fun!!!
holy crap - that's 12 drinks!
i have the same problem for tonight, its my best friends going away party at a pretty awesome club. i havn't drank in a month and a bit (not a long time but pretty good considering i've been at someones birthday party every weekend for that long). there isn't food there, and i worked out a ton thismorning after figuring how many calories creme de menth and creme de cacao are (especially with the amount i have mixed together ^^'). i'm trying to just relax about it, especially because i'm going to be dancing a ton, but i keep thinking "oh crap, i can only have ____ calories for supper or i'll go above how much i'll burn today"
i really have to learn to relax. i mean, as long as i'm not going to be drinking an extra 3500 calories worth of alcohol it wont matter too much right XD. that and i am already fairly lightweight, so ...i might be over calculating what i might be drinking (hopefully!).
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
