biggest enemy to weight loss...hunger

Quote  |  Reply
It seems to me that everyone that is trying to lose weight has to deal with this archenemy....hunger.  How do you deal with it?  What techniques do you use to fight pain and natural instinct to eat more?

My weapon:  I think of food as a tool to survive.   I have a set number of calories that I allocate per meal.  I lay my food on the table and pretend I'm in bootcamp with only a set number of minutes to eat.  I eat as fast as possible and turn it into a necessity...not something to enjoy.  Eating it fast seems to ruin the enjoyment factor... Anycase, it seems to work for me.  Oh...I also avoid kitchen and places with food like the plague:)

I see no food, I eat no food...heh.

well, i  find that eating slowly and actually realizing im eating helps with not being hungry later...

food can be enjoyed. its not a sin. its when you overindulge that a problem takes seed.
I agree with Pinthin, i try to eat slowly, to enjoy what I eat, to taste the things that I am eating and to make it last longer.  My tastebuds have chaged loads over the last 2 months, I don't really really crave chocolate or sweets anymore, of course I sometimes give into temptation but I no longer go actively sugar hunting.

Try eating more protein.  Protein tends to keep hunger at bay.   Check out the satiety index, since foods have a different satiety value.
