Biggest Loser Challenge Part 5 -- Team 1

Quote  |  Reply

Ok Team 1, we got this.  This is our team page.  Anything that any of you guys/gals would like to talk about feel free to post it here.

Also, I would like to remind all of my team mates of a couple of key points:

  1. Make sure to drink plenty of water, atleast 8-8ozs. glasses of water a day.
  2. Make sure to eat your fruits/veggies, atleast 5 servings.
  3. Make sure to exercise, atleast 30 mins. everyday.

Also, if you fall off the wagon for one day, don't beat yourself up about it.  Jump back up and climb back onto that wagon.  This is a difficult weight loss journey for some people, so don't get discouraged.  Just take it day by day, meal by meal.

Lastly, don't forget even if you are not the biggest loser of this challenge, you are all winners in the end.  Any amount of weight that you lose is great.

Tips/Suggestions:

  • Cold water will actually increase one's metabolism, submitted by Dummie.
  • Do your exercise program in the early morning on an empty stomach. You will set your metaboism for the rest of the day...it will be on High, submitted by pinksalmon.

Let's start the New Year off on the right foot.  Here are some challenges to keep us focused for the remainder of The Biggest Loser Challenge:

  • How many 8 oz glasses of water can we drink everyday as a team? - Firebug
  • How many calories can we burn in one day as a team?  Use the burn meter provided by CC to figure this out or use the amount that you burn during exercise only. - Pinksalmon
  • How many miles can we walk in 45 minutes as a team? - Christalrae
  • How many miles can we bike in 45 minutes as a team? - lilreenz

These challenges are to be completed everyday or as many days as you can for the remainder of this challenge.  Please e-mail me when you have completed a challenge, so I can keep a record of how the team is doing.  I will post updates every week on the totals as we go.

Alicia, what's the biggest loser part of this? Do we get voted off? Are there challenges? Is there a prize?  LOL, I could use a prize.

Also, I read a couple of places that cold water will actually increase one's metabolism. I surely do need that.

Dummie -- Below are the official rules as stated in the Biggues Loser Challenge Part 5 forum:

We weigh in every Wednesday. You will be responsible for weighing in. I am not going to track anyone down for weigh ins. If you miss three weeks in a row of weighing in then you will be eliminated. I will assign people to teams randomly and there will be three to four teams depending on how many people show an interested. For those who miss a weigh in your previous week's weight will be counted towards that week. This way no team is hurt or helped by someone not weighing in for the week.

I am not sure if there are any challenges or prizes, but I will check in on that for you and anyone else that is interested.

Firebug...thank you for your initiative. I'm on a roll, I was stuck at 206 for the longest time and don't you know yesterday I was at 204 and today at 203...I started a new exercise program last week, more intense. It IS working. I'm doing the Zone diet by Sears and I reccommend it. Yes cold water will burn more calories than room temperature water, cuz you will burn calories getting it to your body temperature. As for an increase in metabolism...don't know. What increases your metabolism is exercise. Do your exercise program in the early morning on an empty stomach. You will set your metaboism for the rest of the day...it will be on High! Then be sure to eat an equal mix of carbs, good fat and protein, soon after your work out.

The prize for me is having a group of people doing the same thing as me. Support! My goal is to get to 170 by April first. Lean muscle too. I've upped my protein, suggestion: I wasn't eating enough of it. You may not be either, so check see what you need in your diet. Sears has a formula for figuring that out in his book "Enter the Zone" Page 262. It depends on your actitivty level.

Good luck everyone. If anyone needs help with anything let me know. I've done this b/4. In 2000 I was at 218 and I went down to 180 in 3 months. I've learned alot and willing to share info.

Hello everyone.

I shall introduce myself.

Angie-30yr old F-Married-Looking to lose another 20plus lbs.

Coming from 215 and currently 170.

I am from Pennslyvania and not enjoying this cold and wintry snowy weather!

Hopefully this challenge helps me break a plateau.
Thanks Pinksalmon for the info.  I will definitely look into my protein intake.  And keep up the good work.
Hi angieth1_2005.  I am from Delaware, and I don't like the cold winter months either.  Good luck breaking your plateau.

Hello teamies =)

The name is Kerry - as indicated by my ever so creative name =) 36 yr old who has struggled with her weight most of her life. I started here in Apr and am down 40 lbs since then. Its been slow coming off, trying to keep motivated, but its been trying at times.

I guess thats about it for now...can I just say that having our first weigh in the day after Xmas sucks??? LOL

Hi Kerry07!  Welcome to the team.

Dummie & anyone else interested - As asked by Dummie in a previous post, there are no prizes just and no one will be eliminated from the challenge unless they do not weigh in for 3 weeks in a row.  If you go on vacation or something like that and will not be able to weigh in, please e-mail biggestloserfan so she will not eliminate you.

Thanks and good luck to all.

You ARE the weakest link, Goodbye!

Oops, wrong show.

I was joking. really.

A serious question is whether there is some kind of competition among the three teams.

hey all!

i'm melissa and my goal weight is 135-140.  i'm here to lose weight and have fun while doing it.  :)

Hi melwright10 & marc42968!  Welcome to the team.
Hey everyone! Im Molly. Merry Christmas! I think that would be cool if we had challenges. Maybe we could think of ways to challenge the team for a week, like a do a certain excersise for so long/so many times this week or eat a certain food etc. well thats all....
Yeah Molly...Here is a burning challenge for us all...since CC does a great job of tabulating the calories we burn, and hopefully we all are tracking calories we burn daily..Starting Jan 1st, 2008, ....let's see how many of us (team 1) can burn 1,000 or more calories a day. We invite as a team, the other teams to do the same...we then can compare the total calories we burn...team to team challenge. Thoughts?

Hey everybody! Since they dissolved team 3 I am now a part of team 1.  am happy to be here. There was nothing wrong with team three but #1 sounds better than #3. Even though we are #1, has anyone thought about giving us a team name?

I like the idea of doing challenges. I think it would be cool to see how many push ups or sit-ups we could do. That would be fun for a challenge. Or even add up how many miles of walking, jogging, or running we complete. I don't think we can ask biggestloserfan to calculate all this since that would take a little bit of time. Maybe one of us can volunteer to do it. It would be pretty awesome if the other team wants to join in on the challenge then we can have more of a competition on a weekly basis.

Merry Christmas!!!

Hello! I am now a team 1 member! My name is Tiffany, I live in PA! I am here to lose weight and not die trying! I have lost 47 pounds since Sept. 24th! Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

hello!  another dissolved team 3 member =)  Go Team 1!

names...Gut Busters! ( i know...probably ones used a million times).

incredible shrinkers

belly busters

I love the idea of doing the challenges too.  like how many miles we can do on the bike for 45 mins or so (biggest loser episode).  Burning 1,000 calories a day...sounds like a good challenge, especially around this time of year.

Hi Christalrae, Tgegogeine, & lilreenz welcome to team 1.  Hope everyone had a great holiday and stayed on track with their healthy lifestyles.

As far as challenges go, I would be willing to moderate them.  I will post the challenges in the original post.  Just e-mail me what you did for the day for each challenge and I will total everything up for the team.  So keep a lookout for new challenges in that post, and make sure to e-mail me when you complete them.  Either everyday or every other day.  Any way you want to, as long as I get your totals for every day that you complete a challenge, so I can keep accurate records.

Thanks team 1 for all of your good ideas.  Keep them coming.

Good morning team =) I hope everyone had a nice Christmas. I stayed the same, which is amazing considering all the holidays goodies I had Mon & Tues!
Hey everyone! great ideas. The burn 1,000 calories idea sounds great too me! Im so loving my mom right now lol. She got me some really useful items for christmas. A set of different lb weights, and excersise ball, a pedometer and a scale. I am so happy about this lol! well hope everyone is doing well!!!
