I caught an episode of the BLC last night and their stories were so moving. I realize that their rapid weight loss over the 19 week period is highly not advised but they are so proud of them selves and they appeared to be so genuine about the hard work that they put in and I am truly moved by the episode last night.
in a way i love that show and in a way i hate it. i watch every season of it.... because the stories are so compelling and it's a great way to learn. but, it makes the average person trying to lose weight (i.e. me) feel so inadequate. They are devastated if they lose "only" 2 lbs and half the time even 4 or 5 lbs isn't good enough. logically i know that they are not in a real world setting, so you can't compare them to yourself, but it still irks me a little to see my weight drop so slowly in comparrison
The show inspired me greatly yesterday. I am trying to lose weight so that I can run a marathon (and be healthier). I had been feeling that maybe I should extend the date that I originally wanted to run (Oct 2011), but seeing all of them make it to the end made me realize that I can do this--and sooner than I thought.
That Tara is amazing--they are all amazing. It makes me feel wonderful that if I want it bad enough it will happen.
Yes, this is my favorite show! I wish it was on all year. The only thing that discourages me sometimes is when they show you contestants from past years who have put on quite a bit of weight. I think many of them discover that real life takes over once you are home and do not have the ideal conditions you do at the ranch. Although many of them still look good, even if they have gained some weight. For people like Matt Hoover and Eric, though, who have gained back a LOT of weight, that has to be dangerous for your heart. It just goes to show keeping weight off is one of the most difficult things in the world because you HAVE to eat each and every day, not like alcohol or drugs where you can swear them off forever.
This show is so motivational and inspiring and lets me know that I can do it. I can find time to go to the gym and the biggest thing is it's helped me eat healthier. That's been the hardest thing for me to realize how much food I was eating and how bad some foods are. I've realized I can't be on a diet, it has to be about making better decisions for my body. What's going to have the most amount of nutrients to help my body.
I am cheering Tara and Mike on. Tara is a go getter.
I'm in the uk, not quite familiar with this kind of shows...however i have heard of it then googled it....the winner apparently lost about 20 pounds on the last week? how is that possible!!! it is like losing more than 3 pounds EVERYDAY! how is that healthy?
There's at least a month between the last two weigh-ins (and they fudge the timelines on the other weigh-ins pretty heavily too). Losing 20 pounds in a month is a lot, but at least 10 pounds of that won't be 'real' weight loss. The contestants dehydrate themselves like crazy before the finale - like a wrestler who needs to 'make weight'. All of the finalists will weigh a good 10 pounds more than they did at the finale within a week of the end of the show.
oh! thanks, because the time line was a bit weird, its just saying week 13, week 14 and so on...and between the last two weeks she has lost 20 pounds! that is still a lot in the last month! i heard that she abuses some thyroid pills? just for winning some money, has she got to do this to herself? she looks better before though i thought! she now looks haggard and old! she looks energetic before and cute!
Sweeties-
I agree about the winner looking old-I found it hard to believe she was only 48 years old. I notice that some people actualy look younger in the face when they're overweight than when they're thin. Thin has to better for your health, though, unless you're not losing it healthily (is that a word?). But did you see the runner up, Tara? She looks fantastic.
oh! wow! yeah!!! she looks soo amazing!! she actually looks sooo much better than the winner...and very healthy as well....although she is not thin as the celebs but she is certainly looks so much more attractives than stick thin girls!
looks amazing!
