The biggest loser has been one of my favorite reality shows since there really aren't villains.  Last night episode I was so disappointed in how everyone has ganged up on Tara.  Tara strikes me as goal oriented, she's been kicking butt without being mean or spiteful.  I was so happy when she made it across that finished line first with the extra weight.

My boyfriend thinks that car game last night was fixed because Tara ended up winning even pulling 257 pounds compared to Sione and Mike with ALOT less. I'm glad Tara won, don't get me wrong, I was pissed at everyone's poor attitude toward her, competition or not, everyone deserves to be on that show, it just gets people to watch when they get voted off, but that's that part I hate most. Those people deserve to be there and lose weight, they are doing something so amazing! When Mike and Ron went home last week, I cried because of Mike's brother. I felt sooo bad. Hopefully this will change their lives and they can all be healthy together.

Personally, I thought Helen was going last night because I cannot stand her. I feel she is so weak and needs to go home and workout. Her daughter needs to come back.

I love Jillian, but I hope Bob gets a chance to win.

i only got to watch the second half of the show yesterday.  can someone tell what happend in the first half with the challenge, everyone ganging up on tara, and whatever helen said about bob?

I missed somethings as I'm a flipper but.  They are singles now and were able to pick their trainers.  I'm guess Helen said something about Bob suring that.  I changed channels as they were talking to much for me.

They had a kind of 2 part challenge everyone could take the weight they lost and put it onto someone else.  all the guys put their weight mostly to Tara with some going to Helen.  I understand the motive behind giving the weight to Tara as she is an awesome competitor, i felt the other contestants made it personal with the laughter.  Aubray tried to make it bette by saying it's a compliement but it was like a back handed compliment.

the thing is, that challenge was all about momentum.  objects-in-motion and all.  it would have been much harder for tara to get her car rolling, but once it was, the extra weight wouldn't make that much difference.

in other words, if not for the extra weight, she'd have been that much farther ahead of the others ;)

Man!@ Was I watching the wrong episode or what?! I watch it on Hulu since we don't have a TV does that put me a week behind everyone else?! I didn't see any challenge about cars and switching trainers. They did a half marathon while staying at their homes for the week. I feel like I am missing out not owning a tv! *laughing* =/

Me too! I watch it on Nbc.com - it sucks that they keep us a week behind everybody. Plus, I can never stay away from these TBL threads, so I always know before watching the show who gets voted off. Embarassed

Guess what?  Mike and his Dad are from my home town in Michigan.  My sister goes to the gym with his mother.  She spoke to the trainers and said that he goes to the 5:30 a.m. class every day and no one would ever guess he was overweight.  Hmmm...

So I'm rooting for Mike.

I wish Tara was more supportive about Laura.  It all seems about her and not helping her teammate.  I'm surprised they don't talk to their teammates about choosing a trainer.

I've only watched the last 2 season, has Bob never won?

From what i can remember Bob has never been the trainer of the Biggest Loser.

After last night's episode my son (age 11) said "I would want Bob for a friend but Jillian to lose weight".  haha!  I think that explains why Bob does not win, he does not push people to the point they hate him.  Jillian does that.

But either one can come and kick my ass and I would be greatfull for it!

Yep, that is what they said the other night when they let the contestants pick their trainer. Jillian's been the winning trainer every episode since the show started. I don't know what I'd do if I were able to pick between them. I love Bob's personality but $250k is a lot of money and Jillian is the stronger bet, obviously.

wasn't there a season or two without jillian, though?  and then they brought her back to train the "secret" black team, and she blew bob's and that other chick's teams out of the water?

maybe bob won while she was gone?  i'm pretty sure what they said the other night was that jillian has never lost, not that bob has never won.

Pg is correct, Kim Lyons took over for Jillian for a year. I'm not sure if Bob won that year or not, but I think he did.

However, compared to Jillian she has kicked arse each year. She probably gets better results only because she pushes her contestants harder. She has her sentimental moments, but she PUSHES. Bob is a little more light hearted and layed back (except for that one rant on Joelle. Ha Ha.) So his team pushes hard, just not as hard as Jillian's because the players on her team know that if they don't she is going to let them have it in the meanest way possible. Ha Ha.

i think jillian's better at breaking through the emotional barriers.  bob does it occasionally, but i think it's usually accidental for him; jillian's strategic.  she pushes people to physical exhaustion, then breaks them down emotionally, then helps them put themselves back together.  it's like guerilla therapy, and it seems to work (not only that, i think the people she breaks down are usually the ones who win.  remember when she did it to ali vincent?).

and now she's done it to both tara and laura.  is mike next?

I had a couple of minutes to kill before a marathon meeting starts, and needed a mental break from work...

So - I looked up all the winners from all the BL seasons.  Assuming Wikipedia is correct, here's the breakdown:

Season:

1. Ryan winner | Jillian trainer

2. Matt | Jillian - Jillian had the top 2 contestants this year

3. Erik | Bob - this is the year that Kim Lyons was on instead of Jillian

4. Bill | Jillian - Jillian had the top 3 contestants this year

5. Michelle | Jillian

6. Biggest Loser  Families | Jillian

Other "Special Edition" Seasons -

Engaged Couples 1 | Jillian

Engaged Couples 2 | Jillian

Families 1 | Bob

Families 2 | Jillian

Army v Navy Wives | Bob

So, Jillian is 70% overall, and ~78% versus Bob.

I would pick Jillian too... I love her hard core nature!

Laughing

Bob is too nice for me.  In that situation (on national TV with cameras all the time) I would need the pissed off and Im gonna show you that Jillian provides.  I dont know if I would "like" her, but I know that she would drive me to work harder - bond or no bond.

Wow, everyone seems to be saying that they don't dislike anyone this season. I'm having a hard time finding people I do like. I love Kristen, and Tara's fine, but really everyone else--eh.

I really disliked the yellow team, Aubrey and Mandi. Remember Joelle, well when Aubrey came back from that month at home, she was the loudest voice yelling at Joelle for not working hard, but she'd only lost 2 lbs in a month, and she kept saying stuff like, "You give us the same excuses every week Joelle!" What was she talking about, she hasn't been there the last month--granted it was true, but I think Aubrey just smelled blood in the water and attacked before people attacked her for losing 2 lbs (and being chewed out by Bob and Jillian). I think that was her MO in general, attack others to take the pressure off yourself, and I just thought it was really tacky and classless. And Mandi was so whiny--oh my family, I miss my family, it's so hard being here without my family...blah, blah, blah--everyone has a family, everyone misses them. Suck it up. And when she asked those guys to throw the game so she could get a letter from home or whatever, oh, that was it for me. I really disliked the yellow team.

I don't care for the pink team, or brown, or blue--they were fine until that whiny tirade against Jillian. It was so goofy, and so unnecessary.

Oh, you know who I love? Carla! You remember Joelle's parter Carla, the biggest woman on Biggest Loser ever. Oh, she was amazing. I hope she comes back to the finale looking fierce. I'm sure she will too.

P.S. I love Bob. The choice of trainer would have been a no-brainer for me, hands-down Bob! I don't want to be yelled at, that's demotivating for me. I'd rather be encouraged. I just like Bob's style better...not to mention he's so cute.

I think both sides of the trainers are really glorified. They make them out to be black and white, but Bob's definitely not a softie, and Jillian's not always a drill sergeant. They both work their teams out really hard and get to the bottom of their emotional barriers. They just have different approaches to the same goal.

I think that's the key. Jillian breaks them down until they confront the issues that have caused them to overeat in the past, and then helps them find a way to deal with their issues. She did the same for Michelle, and once she confronted her issues with her parents, she was successful in winning Biggest Loser Families.

It seems that Jillian is definitely the trainer to beat based on the research.  I've only watched the last couple of seasons, but it seems to me that Bob's player (for better word) are always leading in the house and its only when they come back for the finale that Jillian's player has won.

I wonder if the preparing them for training on their own is the big difference between Bob and Jillian.
