"The Biggest Loser" love it or hate it?
My sister hates this show, thinks it condesending and manipulative.
I like it... I dont always like the way the contestents are encouraged to treat each other but when they start being liberated from the bodies they were buried in... I find it pretty uplifting.
What say you?
I know it isn't possible for us normal people on our own, but I find it encouraging...love it!
Overall I think it's good. The people are for the most part genuinely good people. And the biggest loser workouts they have on ondemand are awesome, especially the ones with Bob. The dark-haired lady is annoying - sorry, there's only room for one obnoxious fitness woman in my life and that's Susan Powter.
The first couple of shows are the embarassing ones, y'know, where they make them stand there with piles of food, and also when the fridge light goes out when someone gets kicked off. But that's all. Oh, except that all those people are losing weight too fast and need full body lifts when it's done.
Love it!!
The trainer Jillian was sooooo happy that a girl won last time. I was too but I've wondered if the trainers get a bonus if the person that wins is on their team.
Love it! If it weren't for that show, I probably wouldn't be calorie counting right now because I've always been heavy and my weight/size was always pretty stable no matter how healthy or junky I ate and how much or little I exercised. So, I figured what was the point. Seeing people like Maggie and Jen of the last season actually be able to lose weight was what it took to convince me that I might be able to lose weight too. Of course, I realise that the speed at which they lose weight on the show is completely unrealistic/unhealthy for real life - but that's TV for you!
I love the show too, though it can be a bit corny at times. But I think it gets more awareness out there for how to lose weight and exercise more effectively.
I love the show too. What I don't like are all the commercials and product placements they have in the shows. I can tape a 2 hr show and watch it alot faster by fast forwarding thru the commercials.
It's a guilty pleasure, but my main problem with it is the unrealistic expectations it sets up - when the show starts up again, you can bet dollars to donuts that people will be on here asking why they aren't losing 5-15 pounds a week like the people on the show.
I like it- didn't in the beginning- but it grew on me- but the expectations are a bit much- like someone else said- it makes you feel lousy when all you can muster is a pound here and a pound there-
I like the show too, but agree with amethystgirl about unrealistic expectations. Although, it does reach a point where even their weight loss slows down, which shows how hard it is for everyone. I'm not a big fan of the product placement or all the crying/drama either. I must say that the show did inspire me to start working out a couple years ago.
love it! even though i know i can't lose like they do because i don't have a personal chef, coach, personal trainer, motivation of a million dollor payout, 24 hour help and encouragement, you know all that great stuff they have. i do learn a lot of tips that i can use in my own struggles with weight loss and management.
i like to see the excitement when they reach thier goals.
i feel bad that they have to get on the scale in front of millions in pretty much their underwear!![]()
We don't have it here but we have a show very similar and I think it's quite good.
I'd be interested to see how many of the contestants kept the weight off when they didnt have a trainer (and no job) and couldnt work out 6 hours a day anymore.
hey, speaking of the biggest loser show, when does season 7 start?
