Weight Loss
Moderators: duke3522, devilish_patsy, topanga1485, nycgirl, spoiled_candy, cmillington, coach_k What is the biggest obstacle standing between you and your goal?
I used to think it was willpower, but I realize now that it is attitude. I take the littlest discouragement as an excuse to "slip" with my calories. I give myself permission not to stay strong and keep my cravings or boredom or stress -- whatever -- in check.
the biggest obstacle standing between me and my goal is definitely food ;-)
LOL, progc6!
Food really isn't the problem for me. It's how I use food for means other than fuel for my body.

my biggest obstacle is willpower! I have no personal disipline I even bite my nails! LOL
Mine is that I am lazy. I don't want to get up and exercise. Oh and cc I spend way to much time on the computer reading and adding my opinions to the forums
You said it megmc135! My attitude it what holds me back. If I have a
bad day, instead of exercising or doing something productive I give
into cravings. I'll be so good all day and stick to my calories but
after I'm home and the stress of the day hits...uhhhh.
Alcohol, lack of exercise (hard to work out in the pub! lol) and probably more alcohol.
I'd have to say time... I'm an immediate gratification, now or never, all or nothing, kind of person... and taking a slow, healthy perspective on weightloss is... agony. *pauses to think* Upon reflection, I change my answer to attitude. It's working on changing my attitude toward myself and my goals that is helping me make better choices for myself (and I don't take all the credit! CC has helped soooo much *jumps--yay!*)
I agree with "attitude", I'm a pretty pessimistic person alltogether. This site definately helps though! That little "trend" line has made me very happy in the past few days. Haha.
One pound.
I think it's a combination of attitude and willpower for me. I'll get so into the whole thing for a couple of days, counting every calorie that goes near my mouth and exercising as much as possible. Then I won't see results right away, so I feel discouraged. Then I'll have a stressful day, go home and binge to my heart's delight. (And my stomach's.)
Some days I just feel like the battle to be skinny isn't worth it.

Me, myself, and I.
And not necessarily in that order.
It's a constant struggle between 'I shouldn't eat too much' and 'I shouldn't eat too little'. Between 'I'm fine' and 'I'm fat'.
It's mentally exhausting and it leaves so little room for anything else in my life.

energy. and friends.
I'm always too tired to exercise. But I'm old, so give me a break. But........thanks to this site, my eating habits have changed 100%. Getting more protein and veggies helps. I never knew how much protein we needed.
If I had more friends who like to do things, I'd be out golfing or playing tennis and I would lose more. So the fault is really my lazy friend's, not mine, right?

magaroonie I totally agree with you. In the past, because I hadnt lost weight, all at once, id give up.
CC has helped me to not give up!

When I allow myself to stop and think about what seems to be the enormous amount of weight I have to loose, that 3 digit number, and then getting down bacause of it and getting off track, instead of just concentrating on today and now and little by little. So in a sense that is about attitude as well!
well now that i've jumped the proper eating hurdle i'm just having trouble staying motivated to work out everyday- and then to actually be expected to push myself during those workouts.... ugh
hehe
hehe
biggest obstacle would be making healthy choices
my biggest obstacle is that I really like the taste of unhealthy food.
For me it is time/convenience - It takes time to plan for something healthy to eat, cooking healthier always takes more time (using fresh fruits/veggies, etc) and making time to get to the gym.
I also struggle with having a support system in house (my mom is very supportive). My hubby tries to be supportive, but he doesn't like working out much, and he LOVES to spend time with me and eat, so I often feel like he is pulling me away from my goal instead of pushing me towards it.
I am learning food substitution works well in areas where I lack willpower (sweets - skinny cow, and those low fat cupcakes with the fat free coolwhip topping have been a lifesaver!)
