Bike to work anyone?
Who here bikes to work? I ride my bike almost every day, started doing it about 6 months ago and I am so happy I do. I was wondering about everyone's routines? Do you ride in your work clothes or do you change when you get to work? Do you use a back pack or panniers? How often do you ride?
Even though I have a short ride (1.75 miles each way), I pack my clothes in a backpack. I have been splashed a few times from mud in the bike lane and such. I was looking into panniers, but don't know what I should get. I ride almost every day of the week. My new motto is "Sweat, not smog."
When I worked I rode to work. My commutes varied from couple miles to 8 miles each way (last summer). When I was doing longer commute I got a pannier. It was awesome for carrying my clothes/lunch, groceries. Now I use it to get stuff from the store. I still commute, but it's very short less then a mile. What can I say I am lazy and don't want to walk. :) Plus I am always running late. lol
Commuting to work is a great way to get extra or any exercise. Unfortunately just like for regular exercise the list of excuses is long, probably even longer.

I do, in summer (~april-oct). It's about 7 miles, and I LOVE it!!! It wakes me up and gives me energy (I have one of these stupid desk jobs). I don't usually need to change clothes but I use a lot of deodorant LOL
i bike to school every single day, but i dont change or anything (since it doesnt really matter if my clothes are muddy). it takes about 10 minutes to get there so its not much of an excersize though.
I must admit, I was a little put off by the price of the panniers. My back pack works and it cost a lot less. Then again, I feel like I am smashing a lot of stuff on my back, in turn making my back sweaty. Does anyone have recommendations on the best style or brand? I saw some that were more like saddle bags, then there were some that looked like you could take them off and use them as a shopping bag.
I do I do! 3.5 miles each way, 5 days a week. I use a backpack.. also, I bike in my work clothes. Even in dresses. I just make sure to be careful skirts and dresses are tucked beneath me. And do you use headlights? The bell headlight I used just fell off 3 different times, I think I need a different brand.
No headlights for me, I ride in the daylight. I have been meaning to get one, though. It would be helpful if I ever chose to ride at night. I am super excited, got a pannier rack second hand at a good deal. If I don't like it, i won't feel like I wasted money.
I bike every day, 4 miles each way, even when it snows (although I drive if the temps are below 20 degrees). I always wear gym clothes, mostly because I don't want to sweat through my work stuff and stink it all up :) I use a backback. The panniers are kinda cool, but they're too expensive for me
