Bikes, the ones you pedal, can legally take the lane and DO NOT HAVE TO ride in the gutter commonly known as "bike lane". So no need to honk, yell, and threaten either verbally or using the car. Specially since a cyclist can catch up on the next 2, 3, 4 lights... Just saying...

hmmm... wonder how long it'll take for Spiro to show up... ;)
^^ just what i was thinking.
She sounds like a troll that lives under the bridge. lol. I bet she is type of driver that go even more in to rage if you smile and wave. he he.

I like to bike. There are even bike lanes painted downtown because there's so much traffic and it's supposed to make life safer. However, when cars decide the bike lane is for them, I get very angry, especially if they try to cut me off. Also, just because there is rain or snow does not mean the bike lane has magically disppeared.
Similarly, if there is a bike lane painted on the road for your safety...why would you ride on the other side? If you have to turn that's one thing, but I see so many people happily pedalling down the wrong side, while there is a nice open lane for them so they don't get themselves or anyone else killed.
Oh, common sense. Where has it gone?
UD, you have no idea!
And to your OP, if there's a bike lane, don't ride in my lane and slow me down!
Sorry, but if you're taking up the entire lane on the only (feasible - there is one other way, but you practically have to be suicidal to attempt it where I'd have to turn on) road into town from my parents' place when I have to get somewhere, and you're riding along slow as ya please to enjoy the lovely weather, I feel no guilt over cursing you out and glaring when I finally do get to pass. It's rude and obnoxious on your part. Not mine.
Then again, we have a lot of smug cyclists near my parents' place. Perhaps you don't have as much of a 'tude about it as they do.
And I'm sorry, but when I see people biking along after Wisconsin snow storms when my Jeep is sliding all over the road because it's so slick (yes, I've seen this), I reserve the right to think that the biker is an idiot with a death wish.
Well, I wouldn't call Spiro a troll. She's definitely not a fan of cyclists, though. :)

Other side, you mean on actual road, or against traffic? If it's on the road: Because those bike lanes are usually filled with broken glass, derbies, and are not maintained as good as the road. Because those bike lanes are also not very well designed and usually run right near the parked cars, which can lead to a fun phenomenon known as getting doored. That is when a motorist just opens a door without looking and cyclists plows in to it. Bike lanes are not there for "safety" they are there to get cyclists out of the way, and usually are not very well designed. Heck I have seen some "bike lanes" that were just gutters with cyclist symbol painted on it. Oh yeah that is really safe. lol

You ever driven after getting 12" of fluff snow in 8 hours? Try it without sliding, then come talk to me about who needs driving lessons.

Just a tad homicidal, ha? Then again you seem to have some kind of weird fixation with your parents.

And it is this kind of selfish attitude which makes us drivers curse you and not give you much room as we pass.

You know, I was not being personal. Thanks for that.

Ah nothing like taking that law in to your own hands and using a vehicle as a weapon. lol

All I ask for as a cyclist is the 3 feet that most state laws require motorists to give cyclists when passing. And it is our lane , not yours or mine, and if the cyclist is in front of you then it is his or her lane until you can pass safely while allowing for the minimum of 3 feet. Is that so hard?
i am all about people choosing to ride their bikes. i'm however, not all about cyclists thinking they're of a higher authority than cars. light turns yellow, cars stop. bikes? keep on going...
i work at one of the busiest intersections in vancouver, and regularily see bikes FLYING through red lights, nearly causing accidents.
oh, and i almost get plowed over on a daily basis. by bikes.
UD - lose the attitude. i'd hate for people to assume all cyclists are like you.
edit: oh, and i almost forgot to add the abbreviation of my name at the end of my post. oops.

Looks like an obvious answer is yes. lol
Personally I LOVE the tough guys/women who drive aggressively, shout, threaten, pass with half an inch to spare then roll windows up, lock the doors and look straight as I wave at them at the next red light as I roll by. ![]()
