I was just wondering what muscle groups biking and doing the elliptical worked.

I know both of them work the quads, but I don't know anything else about them.

I always see bikers and they have fantastic legs all-around!

Thanks guys, you're always so helpful =]

Both the elliptical and the bike are great aerobic exercises that help you lose weight, strengthen your heart, and increase your stamina. In addition they also are a great lower body workout; the bike more so than the elliptical because the elliptical is more of a low impact exercise. As you mentioned they work the quads; they also work the calves. If you are really interested in toning your legs, hit the gym and do lower body strengthening exercises at least once a week in addition to your biking or elliptical exercises. Target your inner and outer thighs, hamstrings, quads, and calves and you will have "fantastic all around legs" as well.

Hello to all,

i was browsing the net and I found this helpful site so I decided to become a member, and I already have a question.

I have an elliptical machine at home which I have bought recently and to my amazement the calorie counter marks 100 calories for every quarter of an hour I do.  Do you think I have some wrong settings?

thanks
Biking- legs, glutes and core.

I think the biking works the quads more than anything - or at least the stationery bike I use at the college - my elliptical works my legs glutes and has arm movements too.  For added glute work I "squat" a bit on the elliptical.  Also the elliptical can be done foward and back so you can work different leg musles.
i have a elliptical bike

it works my entire leg, my upper back, my lower back, my chest, my abs ( tense these up to get even more) and my arms. only like 30 minutes of intense biking is needed to get a good cardio workout, i do about 25- 30 6 times a week.
