Well i really wanna go and get a new swimsuit and i love bikinis but i have a big butt and i don't want it falling out! Does anyone have suggestions on swimwear that would be functional for me and still be cute? Thanks!

wear shorts that are meant for water, they have all different cuts, like super short, short, medium, and just above the knee cropped. Roxy and Billabong have awesome ones that are super comfy and cute, but theres always the remakes of them that are half the price and still cute good luck

Yeah thats what i normally do. I'll check out some roxy ones cause the cheap ones i usually get always seem to have something wrong with them. Thanks!

I have the same problem, I'm bottom heavy and I just don't look right in bikinis. i went to PacSun to check out the board shorts. When I tried on the girl board shorts, I looked even funnier than if I was wearing a bikini bottom because the shorts puffed out and accentuated my "bottom roundness". However, when I tried the men's board shorts they looked great. I think it's because they are longer than the women's. I dunno. Hope that helps.

Yeah i went and got some today, they're shorter than original board shorts but they're still the same style. They're roxy and i got them at nordstrom rack for 19 bucks!

YOU SHOULD TRY VICTORIAS SECRET.  THEY HAVE ALL SORTS OF MIX AD MATCH TOPS AND BOTTOMS.

thats funny because i have been looking on there! but the bikini i was goign to get they didn't have my size on bottom so i got pissed and gave up lol.

at target they have mis-match bikinis with boy-short bottoms and at delias.com they have really really cute kinis with shorts... its you want to go 8 dollar old-school get some soffe shorts at kholes cuz they come in 5732785278785327 colors and are super comfy and light

most department stores sell separates too.

for a style, i'd recommend boy shorts. most bikinis that have more than one bottom option offer that style. they offer a little more coverage in the assal area without looking like you're trying to cover up. stay away from strings or anything cut very high up on your leg, that tends to accentuate butts. orrrr you could always try a cute little skirt or sarong.

don't wear shorts, though. whenever i see a girl wearing shorts on the beach i know she's trying to cover up.

Yeah I get what your saying but the thing is i am short so the short bathing suit styles make my legs look short and wider. Also i am all for showing off my butt i just don't want it to fall out! It just has to be functional.

Yeah, I would NOT advise getting short style bottoms, from one shortie to another, I really do think they make my legs at least look like sausages. Avoid string tie bikini bottoms, if you are anyway well endowed in that area, it will take on a life of its own. Try high legged, belted bikinis. The high leg will elongate your legs, however the belt and coverage will offer support. Try a style such as these:

Good luck, xxx

Thanks girls, i really appreciate all your advice, it has helped a lot!

I dont know whether to wear a bikini or a swimsuit this summer? My measurements are 35-27-33, is that too large for a bikini? Because I really want to look good as I am going on holiday with friends. Also to take into account is my skin is translucent, I'm very pale and I think tans look better in bikinis, is this so? What colour should I go fo so I dont look large, frumpy or washed out?

I'd go with the boardshort suggestion as well. And I'm with gurlywurly, I'm pretty small all over, and boy shorts still manage to make my legs look stumpy. also, boyshorts ALWAYS ride up on me whenever I move. So unless you plan on wearing the bathingsuit and just sitting around, I wouldn't advise boy shorts.

but I'd actually suggest that you can get a string bikini, it doesn't necessarily have to be "barely there" or literally just string. But if you get a bikini in the right size (that covers everything) and it has ties on the side, then you can control how tight it fits so you don't have to worry as much about stuff falling out.
