I do it! It's not the only style of yoga I do though. There are so many styles and poses I recommend experimenting with the various types. They all have different benefits. I love Bikram though and it has helped me lose weight and build definition.

it changed my life.

the first time you will probably feel sick. keep going.

Ive only have had 2 classes, but really enjoy it. No sickness yet, but I am hungry.

I am going for my 2nd time tonight ... but I have done other types of yoga for over a year.  Didn't feel sick after the 1st time, amazingly invigorated, in fact.  Looking forward to it tonight!!!

Hey guys, is there any way to relieve the wrist pain from poses? My friend tells me it's just something you need to get used to, but I just wanted to be sure I'm not doing the poses incorrectly. I have very small wrists (5'9" but you can easily overlap middle finger and thumb around my wrist) so I'm majorly hurting during poses like downward facing dog. Any recommendations?

I have tiny wrists too 5'10" and can easily overlap middle finger and thumb, but down dog should never hurt your wrists. Make sure that when you are in DD your fingers are spread apart and you are pushing your butt and hips back and away. Like an upside down V. Also you can bend you elbows a little. If that doesn't help ask your teacher to look at you in the pose and critique you.

Thanks, I didn't know about the fingers. I've been told my form is okay, so I can't figure out the problem. It just feels like my center is in the wrong place when I'm doing the pose. I'm assuming the focus should be on the lower half of the body during DD, but all I feel is immense pressure on my wrists. Perhaps my teacher is not experienced enough (I attend classes at a university gym).

Hmm. Try to distribute your weight through all of your fingers and really push back with your entire hand and fingers. I'm sorry i can't help more. Check this sit out it may help explain things better than me :)

Hi All,

I practive Bikram Yoga 4-5 times a week and love it. I've been doing it for about 4 months (previously practing other forms of yoga) and it's addicting, so keep it up. Your body will look and feel amazing, not to mention the clarity of mind it brings.

I'm not sure why some of you are doing DD in Bikram, but depending on where you practice, that style might be used in a general sense. Traditional Bikram is composed of 26 poses, done twice, in a room that is heated to 110 degrees. DD is typically done in power classes, at least in Seattle!

Regardless, keep it up, your body will thank you.

ftay, you shouldn't feel pain when practicing. If it continues, you might want to see a doctor.

Good luck all!
