binge eating

Quote  |  Reply
I am 5'8", I've been struggling with losing weight ever since the summer when i gained all the weight back that i lost last year. Recently I have been having trouble with like sticking to my diet, (1400 calories) for maybe a couple weeks, but then having intense intense cravings and ending up binge eating in very large amounts. Its terrible and I hate the way I feel afterwards. I am not one to eat so crazily either like that. I was just wondering if any of you experience the same thing.

I did meet with a nutritionist & she is helping me, because i need to lose 15 lbs.

Heck yes!!!!!! This past week I have been binging sooooo bad!!! And we have all, at least once (for me a ton more), and then we all hate the feeling of being so full and guilty afterwards!
It helps me not to binge eat if I eat every three hours. I tend to be hypoglycemic if I go for a long time without eating. So I get hungry, shaky, sweaty, irritable and dizzy and end up eating like crazy until I'm stuffed. But since I've been sticking to set times and a set menu (milk, cereal, yogurt, weight watchers entree, snack, dinner) then I find I don't get so hungry late in the day.

As far as craving go, keep on hand small amounts of low calorie sweets or salts. Make sure you only stick to one serving when you want something. Like baked tortilla chips when you crave salty crunchy stuff. Don't class anything as bad but allowable in small, managed quantities. If you don't have the willpower to do that then buy something in only a single serving package as an occasional treat.

If you have to binge it's better to binge on a package of low cal fat free snacks than stuff that's full of fat and calories so choose your items wisely. Don't beat yourself up over it. We're all human and mess up once in a while. Just vow to do better next time. After all, tomorrow is another day.

Best of luck to you. :)
Try to figure out what triggers the cravings, and then try to remove the trigger. I have decided to move my late night computer study sessions to my bedroom, far from the kitchen. I used to sit at a little counter top desk at the end of the kitchen.

Last night I was in my bed thinking about going to get something to eat, but lucky for me - I never took that walk. I am a terrrible binge eater, that is my biggest problem. I usually do it out of boredom, but once I start, it is hard for me to stop.

You know what else helps? Talking about it. I have been much better the last few days that I have been here. Even disclosing my weight to my parents helped. They were shocked I had so much to lose.
I've done it before Alex. For me, I was just bored and ended up eating. Since I started using this site on a regular basis though, I haven't overeaten. What I usually do is calculate my calories while my food is cooking or as I'm eating. Once you physically see how many calories you're about to eat, maybe you'll stop.
