binge eating, post-thanksgiving

Quote  |  Reply

so i don't worry too much about Thanksgiving meal....I ate what I wanted, and it was all good and healthy and I was full.

What I worry about is having to be with my family for five days. This Thanksgiving triggered the worst binges, because my family stresses me out so much (and they have enormous amounts of junk food stashed away in places), Convenient!

So for about four days straight, I have been binge eating (mostly on ice cream and cereal) until my stomach hurts at night. And then not eating all day long.

Fortunately I'm back home now, so there is nothing to stress me/tempt me. But I'm so grossed out.I can see that I'm fatter. How should I best recover from this? I don't really have time to work out. I think I'll just live on vegetables and eggs for the next week or so. Flush all that crap out my system.

Will four days of binging set me off track?

Four days worth of binging probably would cause some pounds to be gained...I know I was eating more than I normally would for about 3 solid days due to the thanksgiving dinner, then followed by an h'ordeurves party at my aunt's house that night (who does that? hadn't we eaten enough? lol) then going out for dinner with my mom and bf and then going out for breakfast the next morning. BLAH! But I tried my best not to overdo it too much, and most importantly I enjoyed myself... But now its time for some damage control, so I feel your pain.

I am cutting down on carbs and cheese for the next few days and eating more raw, whole foods. Im also trying to drink more water. Dont dip too far below your normal weightloss calorie intake, if at all.  Otherwise your metabolism will be thrown all out of whack.  I personally think its best to work off the extra calories you consumed with exercise, but if you cant do that, then do your best to eat healthy again and move past it. Good luck!Wink

yeah....i kinda know how u feel.  My brother was home from college this weekend which prompted lots of big meals and eating out.  I tried to do good, but on days where i don't have official meals i tend to just snack way to much.  Also tonight i decided for the next few weeks i was going to try and eat really well so i decided i would go a little crazy with leftover pie and icecream-prob. at least 400 cals minimum.  Probably was not such a good idea.  But, it was good and i don't feel too bad about it and i think it will keep me on track for the next few weeks.  To answer ur question, four days probably could have done some damage but not as much as u mite think.  Just try to drink lots of water and like wholegrain said, dont go to much below ur calorie level and i would wait to weigh ur self for a few weeks just so the scale wont give u a fake number b/c of water retention.

To quote my grandmother "give your selve a new sheet of paper".

If you dwell on those 4 days too much, that is just added stress, and it will make it harder to stay on track. If you try to make up for it by restricting your self too much, it might push you off track again!

I find the best way to recover from going off track, is to just start over the next day, as if it didn't happen. If you do that, it really won't matter a month down the road.
