BINGE! And I even saw it coming...

Quote  |  Reply
I pretty much knew I was going to binge today when I woke up, weighed myself, and after busting my ass all week, was .6lbs heavier than I was last week.  I tried to not let it get the best of me, because I know weight can fluctuate depending on so many things, but I was SO hoping for a loss...Listen to all I ate...

Kashi Heart to Heart, skim milk, banana

Slice of veggie pizza, side salad w/ caesar dressing

Tried to stay on track....Then I got really down...

Tall iced white chocolate mocha, orange creme coffee cake

Tiny plate of kato chicken, fried rice

Like 7/8 of a cinnabon

10 Maryjanes....bluh. Encouraging words people...I beg you.

What is a maryjane?
Encouraging words:  You ate better than I did today ;-)
Maryjanes are little candies that are kind of like a caramel, but they have a peanutty flavor to them...very chewy.
Seriously dont worry about it!!  Actually, I did the same thing last week and then after not losing any weight for like 2 weeks went ahead and lost 2 lbs?? -- and I had went crazy overbored!  Like an extra thousand calories!  I have read all over this site that occasional cheat days and going up to or beyond your maintence is actually good for you!  So dont feel so guilty (like I did last week) you will be back on track tomorrow and soon this day will be long gone :)  Good luck!
Well, txjocelynx87, that makes two of us!!!   (See my post from this morning, titled "How to Overcome a Binge?")  Together we can pick ourselves up off the floor, stand tall, chin up, and say, hey we are human, it's now time to hop back on the wagon and accept our mistakes.....We need to realize that there are going to be bumps in the road that we just will choose to go over and fail instead of going around them and avoid failure....oh well--  poop happens!
oh my god. I thought by 'maryjanes' you meant.. joints. haha! sory about that..
and don't worry about it. one day of overeating won't kill you. me, I have a problem with UNDEReating some days [reallly bad for metabolism] and just pick it up the next day. don't feel too bad about it--it's not like you're gonna gain 5 pounds from this or anything.
I can think of a lot worse binges. It was only one day after all, tomorrow is a fresh day.
.6 pounds is nothing to get upset about. everyone's weight fluctuates and it was probably water weight anyway. don't get down on yourself.
That doesn't sound like a binge to me. Did you even eat over your maintenance?
You think that's something!?!? My best friend in the whole world is in town for a week and just yesterday we went food crazy.

We started the day with just a yogurt and at lunch/dinner we had a salad. Then it goes downhill from there.

We decided to go on a chocolate crawl (think...barcrawl) and went to three different chocolate shops and bought a truffle from each place and had two free sample truffles. So we both ate five! It doesn't end there, we ate an entire bag of dried apples and then at night made a trip to bakers sqaure where we each at a slice of pie with ice cream! However, as much as we felt bad about it, a lady walking down the street who saw us devouring one of our truffles (on the way to the next chocolate shop needless to say) told us that it was so nice to see two girls eating in public. From then on we were proud to be eating and it was nice not to be counting calories for a day.

Not to mention, it was a GREAT motivator to get back on track with my diet and a good reminder that girls are supposed to have some flirty hips and that eating is normal...sometimes I forget and I'm sure you've forgotten too. So, celebrate your "binge" and your body how it is now and how it will be tomorrow.
I wish I ate like you today!
I ate 2 entire pies this week.. MYSELF!
Ive binged more than 3 times and Im still at 120? huh anyway just keep active you wont regret it!
YOU have to do something aboutit ! Do not rant, words wont make you burn calories, go take a nice walk, seriously DO something about it, do not stay there and fret!
YUMMM! @ the Starbucks. How does the orange creme coffee cake taste? Wanted to try it out :} haha

Seriously, that doesn't seem like much! Last week when I decided to have a day where I didn't have to count calories, the thought of me watching what i was eating went out the window also haha.

Had my regular breakfast in the morning [cereal / 2% milk]
than we went to Los Angeles, AHH!
We we to a mom & pop stand and ordered pastrami fries which were piled.. literally.. mountains of cheese [huge styrofoam container]. IT WAS THE BEST THING EVER lol. Not only did I have Chinese that night, I ate two packages of poptarts [cherry.. 400 cal each] Snacked on the most sugary cereal [at least 4 cups].. oh and of course topped it off with a piece of fruit.. lol. I'm also positive I ate more..

...and I didn't even beat my self up about it :| Tomorrow is always another day! :)

Don't worry! That hardly seems like a binge. I'm sure it is over what you normally eat since it's a concern to you, but at least you didn't also eat a ton of cookies, and then McDonalds like I used to. You'll be perfectly fine. This may even kick start your metabolism, and help you to lose weight faster. Just don't do it too often  guess. At least I think that's how it works...
i binged today too! i actually woke up this morning about 1.5lbs less than i was last week and only 3lbs from my goal and i was so happy when i woke up this morning so i tried to do good today, but after lunch it all went downhill:

breakfast-strawberries and a peach and a light and fit smoothie

lunch-strawberry and spinich salad w/ pecans && diet coke

snack-special k bar && an entire bag of rice cakes && diet coke and another special k bar

dinner-roast beef, potatoes, and green beans covered in gravy

dessert-rasberry chocolate chip gelato

not-quite-midnight snack-wendy's double stack w/ cheese

for a grand total of about 2600 calories. i havent eaten this much in about 2 months and now i feel terrible and even worse, i really want to purge. but im going to resist and start again tomorrow!
I've binged today too! I can totally sympathize. Already I've had  oatmeal with lowfat cottage cheese and strawberries, a banana, a fuze drink, rice cakes with more cottage cheese, some baked lays, some grapes, cereal out of the box, a couple small slices of meatloaf, a few bites of mac & cheese, and some pretzels and it's only 12:15. Ugh. I feel so bloated and disgusting. I wish I could distance myself from food at these times, but it feels impossible.

Reading some of your lists of a day's food which you consider binging, i find this really interesting! I am an 18 yrs old male, about 6ft 3in and i am considered underweight. I do about 30 mins running about 3 times a week.
But what most of you consider binges i eat (if not more!) every day, and i don't put on weight. I have very little fat on me, and i don't have large muscles (except for my legs), yet i manage to eat a LOT by the sounds of things, every day, without putting on weight!
I stopped trying to lose weight about 3 months ago, and generally have been eating about 500 calories more a day than my PREVIOUS maintenance diet, since my friends told me i needed to put on weight, yet i haven't. And i eat quite a lot of fats and carbohydrates
oh my gosh! I am so glad to see that I am not the only one that self destructs when I get discouraged! I think sometimes that we are way too hard on ourselves when we feel defeated...so we stomp on ourselves even more! I think we have to just dust off our knees and move forward after a binge or a week of sleeping instead of hitting the gym....or a combination of both! No one is perfect every day or even every week. We are all doing the best we can! The more we learn to come back from our "upsets," the stronger we will get!! Don't beat yourself up!! :)
