Binge foods

What are your 'binge foods'?

Mine are pasta, bread/toast (without margerine, I don't eat it), tuna, corned beef, ricecakes, bananas, rice, billy bear ham etc.

What are yours?

Cereal, cereal and cereal.  Oh yeah cereal bars too!  I hate binging - done 1 day so far.  I think my problem is that i hardly eat anything during the day and then lose all control at night.  Argh
funny, but i can binge on anything found in the cupboards...

it's not so much the food as it is the act of over-eating for irrational reasons!

it took a long time to realize that food is not good or bad.

it's what we do with it.

if we over-eat, we hurt ourselves and gain weight and related degenerative diseases.

if we don't eat enough, we hurt ourselves and starve.

we need to focus on learning how to live life without hurting ourselves with food.

we need to focus on when and why and how and what and where we eat.  choose to eat to nourish our bodies....

and when we want to over-eat... we need to figure out why and see if we can cope with life some other way... or if we're really hungry, then to eat and nourish our body....

~ not meaning to sound preachy or teachy... at all!  It took a lot of failures and dusting the floor with my tukus and hiding behind the couch eating with glee to get as much eaten as possible before my rational brain would kick in and stop me and beat me up for failing 1 more time...

what I did find... is that if I thought of food as bad, or as a *binge* food that I couldn't have...

the minute I told myself I couldn't have something, then i would become obsessed with it and think about it for weeks until I had way to much of it!!!  can we say m&m's?  or pizza?  or cheeseburgers???  or anything people said I shouldn't eat... because I should *diet* or it was *bad* for me!!!

instead... needed to find a way to eat that I could enjoy.  If I want all m&m's today, that's ok.  I just need to stop at maintenance level calories...  and do something else beside over-eat if I'm still feeling... whatever?  frustrated, upset, restless, bored...

geesh... i had a bazillion reasons to over-eat...

So... my 2 cents ;)  don't put certain foods in a bad category or off-limits...  chances are... it will make them more desireable...

cheers,
binge foods? hmmmm I think that most of us will eat anything in site when we are on a binge. I myself am one of those people. I would probaby eat the wall paper off the wall if I new it tasted good. I think when you binge that either you are bored or something is bothering you. Get up walk or go somewhere. Talk with a friend and get your mind on something else. It works. It does...really it does huggers to the bingers including me
Yeah but really sugary foods make me feel sick / actually throw up, so I don't eat them very much.
Cereal and peanut butter...
Everything, especially PEANUT BUTTER. It's insane how much of that i could eat, and cereal bars. Usually just because that's all we have that's not the healthiest thing in the world.
I'm not too much of a binge person, but when I have Cadbury mini eggs I can't control myself. I'll eat until every single one is gone no matter how large the package is.
peanut butter and grapes ! lol :)  Once I start, I can't stop !!
I binge on grapes too as well as bananas. And wholegrain bread.. definitely pasta, and pizza and crisps.
jenpap that is exactly my problem too! I'm so good during the day but then I think I get bored at night and eat everything in sight.

I too binge on bread - usually with marmite/jam/honey. Also anything chocolatey is my weakness. My local corner shop sells packs of ice creams for only £1 and I can't resist them!
I used to not be able to control myself with nutella.  I'd have one scoop, then another, then I'd put it away, and then I'd come back to the counter and open it again... until finally I just threw it away!  Now I don't buy it.

So now I have found myself doing the same with penut butter... but I can't throw it away bc its my boyfriends peanut butter!
Cookies - I love cookies.
I binge on sweets anything sweet b/c i dont allow myself a lot of sweets. well i am slowly letting it back into my lifestyle and it has helped. i am much of a binger but i do it from time to time on a saturday night. i will binge on peanut butter , i love it!!!
chocolate spread :S and things extra sweet like cookie dough!
its soo bad i know - but i only have them occassionally as i know i cant cut them out totally coz i love them too much!! haha
when I'm really bad I'll eat cake frosting straight from the jar. mmmmm it's just sooo good. Usually though it's little candies I have or ice cream. I keep jello w/ cool whip around so I can eat that instead of icky stuff at night. It satisfies a sweet tooth and keeps you pretty full. Now that I have that little eat-meter I'm less likely to eat at night b/c I don't want to go over!
peanut butter and white bread

mini eggs

cheese

ice cream

candies

chocolate anything

any of the above are big ones for me - usually in combination.  i'm an opportunistic eater.  if i see someone has brought home donuts i'll sometimes just go crazy on the donuts until they're gone.  we're trying to keep that kind of stuff out of the house these days because if it's not within your reach, you can't eat it right?

it's so silly too because they're eaten so fast, you never really enjoy the taste of them.  what's the point in eating chocolate if it goes down so fast you don't get to taste it?

since i joined here though (a couple weeks ago) i havn't been getting out of control with eating.  that doesn't mean i don't still indulge.  i went out for a slice of chocolate cake because i was craving it for days and days.  we made an event out of it and it was great.  chocolate craving taken care of, caught up on some gossip, and most importantly, i didn't have a whole chocolate cake in the kitchen tempting me.

i'm going to stop talking about chocolate cake now or i'll want some. hahaha.
m&m's ice, ice cream, cheesecake!!!! mmmm.........
Peanut butter. Chocolate anything. Girl Scout cookies (I'm a Girl Scout, so it can get pretty bad...). And more peanut butter.

Hmm.. I thought about what united2gether said.. and it worked! I was eating dinner, and saw the peanut butter.. but the second I thought, hey, it's okay to have peanut butter! I didn't feel like eating it anymore. :)
Bread products. Especially pancakes, waffels etc.

Cereal, granola, bananas, ice-cream, cake, sea-food, pasta. ..

Yeah, it's the bread that get's to meh`. >.<

| usually just overeat on these things because | avoid them, but |'m learning to change to not "avoid" or have catagorys where there's some things completely "off limits". `Cuz what's funny, is if a binge is going on, |'ll eat something really bad for me that | don't even like that much. |'ll just binge on it because it was, "0ff limits."

So |'m not doing that anymore. | agree whole-heartedly with every word in united2gether's post.
