binge-free challenge, anyone?

Quote  |  Reply
So I've got into a pattern of binging once a week.  In order to avoid falling back to be emotinoal eater, I'm gonna kick binges for good.  I know some of you out there are binging even more often, say by keep track of each other's eating habit, we can really help each other out.

I'm down to join, I am a binger for sure.
Still binge free for this week anyway....running everyday really does help.  I keep thinking wht would I run my ass off, only to come home and binge.  The trick for me is to keep busy but not too busy....

Which I totally am.  I work full time, have 2 kids (age 10 and 4), I also perform as a singer and actress in my "free" time, and this time of year is busy with bookings...and my Dad is 90 years old, and I want to spend every second I can with him, I excercise every day, and to top all this off, I quit smoking 8 months ago, and didn't even miss it, until last month, the cravings hit again..and NOW i'm struggling with that too.    A busy lifestyle is prime binge time...because it's so faster to stuff your face with crap than to prepare a healthy mean.  But if you keep yourself in check with entering your foods before you eat them, it'll slow you down and help you stay focused.

Yesterday though I only ate 900 cals....and 250 of those were from an Ice Cream sandwich...too little I know.  Today I'm committed to eating all of my calories...at least 11-1200 anyway.

Since I started this about 3 weeks ago, I have lost 13 pounds...so I'm doing something right....but I have to be careful not to go too crazy and stary cutting more calories or something!!
I definetly agree andrea running does help!  As long as I keep that mental thinking... and remember how I feel when I do run, b/c its so easy for me to make exscuses... (Just this one day...Ill eat anything) and I've realized thats what has been my downfall.  We have to keep at it!!
how did u lose 13 pounds in just 3 weeks,i would love 2 know

saringtosh, i know how you feel. i binged today after being binge-free for a little over 2 weeks. i had about 4 cookies around noon, but decided not to call it a binge because i would usually have more and it was a little spread out. however, when i got home i decided to make a batch of cookies... and i ate every single one of them. im now at 2,900 calories (way more than my usual 1,300).

i'll try again tomorrow. and don't feel so bad, saringtosh. i usually don't gain (too much) from such an extravagant binge. and if i do gain some, i lose it within the week.

good luck!
Hi im new here. I have a binge eating problem too! This site is amazing. I've just resisted the urge to binge so... everyone keep up the good work! :) We're all in this together!
hey guys- im new here too! i am definitely a binge eater. i went 2 weeks without binging and then the 3rd week i gave in. i ate more and more every day until i exceeded my daily intake calorie allowance. i havent gained any weight YET which is a good thing. I can get back on track easily without being depressed.. so here i go.. accepting this challenge. im hoping i can do another 2 weeks without a binge! this is day 1 of 14...
Well just to give everyone a heads up - I am doing South Beach, with a few twurks of my own.. and it is so amazing! I am not one to do "diets" because I don't believe its a way for true life living, but I am altering this diet to fit my lifestyle while staying dedicated to it in different ways.   It really does help knowing the full knowledge of food, breads (how it affects your bodies insulin),  and how bread, pasta, sweets (even in small portions) they make you crave other foods.  I am a total sweets person and for the first time ever I was able to not give into temptation last night.  Summer bar b q and I was able to avoid my craving! I feel so great.  I am so excited to see what happens in the future!  I don't believe I'll be binging anytime soon my friends... Good luck to you all!

hi there...i just noticed this forum and after last night, well, I thought that I should join. My problem is that I eat very healthy all day, restricted calories but not so that I'm starving......then I binge at night. It's not that I'm hungry. I usually have a very, very healthy dinner. The problem is my boyfriend. He's very trim, HATES the gym, and LOVES to make pastries from scratch. He also loves chips and sweets...but he's really good about not binging on them...just always keeps them around to munch on. Well, we live together....and I binge on these things late at night. if I was alone, I wouldn't have any of this junk and I would probably be 10 lbs thinner....With him and the bad food here, I just eat and eat late at night....sometimes I sleep walk into the kitchen and munch on foods. Also, I love two or three glasses of wine a few evenings a week, and that just propels the whole thing. UGH! I'm off to the gym to work last night's binge off. I need to try and solve this problem. I'm not overweight, but I could stand to lose a few pounds, 5-15. I'm not sure how to combat this problem...any realistic advice?
Deal! I'm ready for this! I binged on Sunday then Monday, no more, those were the only times I've done it since being on this site, but it's disappointing to me! *Takes the challenge* Better get the water bottle ready!!!
Let me join please..
I guess binging is one of the largest global problem :p

I binged today on 94gr Dove chocs and it's not even afternoon yet!! I had reached 1548 cals (348 exceed) and I don't know how to hold of til dinner...I guess I'll just drink tons of water and oolong tea T.T what a day.

binging is verrry hard for me to avoid. since i really love to munch while studying T.T i know i need to make this terrible habit go away....any suggestion?
Welcome to the new people to this forum! Posting here has made so much difference in my binging patterns; I think this is a wonderful first step. Having others to connect with on the topic has really helped me to confront and change my eating decisions (knowing that a binge sometimes doesn't feel like a decision, but rather a compulsion!).

I'm now almost 50 days without a binge...but please understand that that doesn't mean staying within my calories and eating great for 50 days! I still have very indulgent days or even weekends, but I haven't had what I consider a true binge for me: eating massive quantities of food pretty much in secret, 1,000's of calories of crap at once that I would be humiliated if anyone else knew about.

I'm worried about my upcoming 10-day vacation, surrounded by snacks and cookies and chips and sweets while camping...and drinking! I plan to just enjoy myself, but I don't want to lose control! I'm not sure how to approach the whole situation...
It seems like it is a common problem, binging at night.  That is definitely an issue for me as well.  I actually do very well with my intake during the day and then by the time the evening comes I probably haven't eaten enough so I am really hungry.  I end up eating too much for my dinner portions and then comes the rest of the evening.  After a long day at work it is nice to be able to relax.  The problem, I know, is that T.V.  It is way too easy to sit back and munch on goodies while watching the latest episode of Lost or Heroes.  Then before you know it I have eaten WAY too much food.  Since I started on this site I have replaced my night time eating with fruit.  I end up eating less of it because it doesn't make me crave more.  But, my cravings for sweets have certainly not disappeared.  Going through the evening without them I find myself going through withdrawals.  Isn't that crazy?  But I know if I make it through for a couple of weeks, those feelings will go away and I won't need to binge at night.  The problem is just getting there.
We can kick this gals!  Since I've started my own version of the South Beach, I have lost 10 LBS in two weeks its INCREDIBLE! I feel so great, and I am seeing results.  Just cutting out bread has made me leaner, I must admit that I am having serious withdrawls from bread.  It's amazing how much we really count on foods to keep us nourished.  You have to be strict with yourself and dont give IN to ONE moursil of bread.  I think in the past I always told myself its ok to cheat just a little, well thats why I stayed at the same weight for about 6 months.  No more exscuses for this girl!  I am doing great on  my life change, and I know it will come off fast because of my work out regimen, and then I will eventually introduce bread a little at a time.  It works!  Read the South Beach Diet book and you will see!!! I would love to help anyone out who has questions about this...

Sign me onto this forum! I'm a fellow binger, too.  You guys sound just like me.  I can't seem to make it past 2-3 days before I wind up bingeing.  I just can't seem to find the motivation to help me stick with it and focus on my goal.  Has anyone found anything that helps them to stop a binge?
It is 9:00 pm and I am fighting the urge to stay away from the food.  I had a cup of strawberries after my dinner and am right below my calorie count for the day.  Preoccupying myself with this site is very helpful.  I love having someone to talk to.
