i've read some posts from others on here talking about being binge-free and i just wonder how all of you did it. the most i've gone in the past year is probably 4 days without binging. i've been struggling with this disorder from probably 3 years or longer. it's awful. i feel like it will never end. i know many others feel that way too. so basically i was just looking for those who have overcome the disorder to share if you are willing how you became binge-free. thank you.

'Bingeing' is a bit of a catch-all but it covers a multitude of behaviour patterns and a multitude of triggers. How you solve the problem depends on which applies to you. And the definition of bingeing also depends on the individual. There's a broad spectrum that goes from 'mild overeating' to 'excessive, mindless consumption'. So where you are on that spectrum also dictates how you overcome it or even whether you decide to accept it and accommodate it.
If one person's binge is set off by boredom, for example, and they graze their way through the fridge contents as a result..... then they can find that being less bored and having healthier foods around helps stave it off.
If someone else's definition of a binge is a bar of chocolate and it's triggered by the fact that they normally undereat then the solution is to get them to eat more on a more regular basis.
