binge on peanut butter!
Ok, today I was doing great.. I did 2 hours at the gym cardio and yoga, then i did 30 minutes of strength training. i had a healthy breakfast and lunch, but then at night i let go.
We have a jar of peanut butter mixed with cookie dough! Unfortunately I ate half of it, or maybe more, I don't even know. I had a meal replacement bar and single serving Sunchips, along with two Vitatops (muffin tops but healthy and 100 cal per piece). I am guessing I had anywhere between 2000-2500 today.
I am completely confused because not too long before the binge I was thinking how on track I've been this whole week, eating right/exercising. Will I gain weight from all that PB plus the other things? I am going on vacation tomorrow and I just cannot believe I binged before- I will have such a guilty conscience now! Tomorrow I won't have a chance to workout..what can I do to ensure this STUPID binge won't cause me to gain?
If you did two hours of cardio and 30 min strength training I don't think you overdid your calories at 2000-2500. I think you're fine. ![]()
Really? That's a bit of relief...however I usually eat 1200, this is a big jump for me! I can't let go of guilt.

Is this all you ate all day or just the binge? If it's all you ate all day and if it's typical of the type of food you regularly eat then I suspect that the reason you binged was that your body was searching for nutrition because you need to eat more whole foods (fruit, veggies, dairy, meat, nuts, beans, etc.). Meal replacement bars are okay in a pinch but they don't really substitute for a proper meal - no matter how many vitamins they stuff in there. Similarly, vitatops are okay as a snack but they're not a healthy meal.
If you normally eat a decent amount of real food then ignore the previous paragraph. In that case, you were probably just undereating for the amount of exercise you're doing. With that much activity, you basically should be eating about 2000 calories per day - even for weightloss.
that was just the binge...i had a healthy breakfast and lunch and snacks beforehand...
cheerios, milk, with a banana and some cut up watermelon
turkey sandwich, apple, sunchips
1 Subways cookie, honeydew + pineapple cup
I normally binge once or twice a week, which is preventing me from losing the last few pounds...I freak out when I eat twice as more than usual because I feel it just delays the process that much.
XD i was worse, i swear for a month i was addicted to peanut butter i would have a sandwich or more a day worth that was +6 pounds D:
With only between 2000-2500 cals I don't think you have anything to worry about. I have heard that eating your set dinner after exercising helps to avoid any slip up binges. Make sure you get lots of protein and fats too!
I think you might be eating too few calories per day for the amount of exercise you are doing. On 1200cals is the bare minimum for a sedentery woman and with the amount of exercise you are doing your your body will crave more, leading to the kind of unhealthy binge you described. Try upping your daily calories (but still maintain a defecit) and you will binge less.
Wait, so did you do 2 and a half hours of exercise total? It's no wonder you "binged," you probably burned 1200 calories in those 2 and a half hours alone! I think you're fine. At the very worst, you probably maintained weight. With that much exercise, however, it's possible you still had some kind of calorie deficit. Keep in mind that you have to eat more when you exercise for that long, you're burning a lot.

^ True that. There's no point in having a 1,500 deficit when you just need 500-1000 to lose a pound or two. Anything more is water weight.
If you really have been dieting and exercising a lot, then its ok to have a higher calorie day. Just forget about it and keep up the dieting and exercising. A cheat meal once a week is supposed to boost your metabolism. When you are eating less than your body needs, and then have a higher calorie day, it tells your body that you ARE feeding it, and that its ok to let go of more fat. Some people actually lose weight by eating at a higher calorie level every few days. It tricks your metabolism into burning more fat.
