I just binged AGAIN.... now what?

Quote  |  Reply
I've been doing extremely well today, eating 1200kcals, exercising in the gym for an hour... until midnight came and I was hungry. I went to the kitchen... and... I BINGED. ARGH. i ate everthing in sight of me again. AGAIN! Yesterday i binged and I promised myself not to binge today but I failed again. :(

I feel so weak and powerless. Seems like all the hard work I've done today has gone down the drain... I hate doing exercises but I managed to force myself to workout nevertheless. I was proud for that. But then... now I've sabotaged my efforts again. I'll try to go back on track tomorrow, but seeing the scale forever on 125 makes me want to give up! Sometimes, it's even worse- it goes UP. I think it's all because of my mid night binge episodes. I'm' afraid it's already bvecoming a habit of me. What should I do??? Help!!!

how tall are you sytso? 125 is a pretty healthy weight unless you are VERY short. Maybe you just don't have any more weight to lose so your body is fighting to hold onto what it has?
i'm 160 cm, for your information, but I am small framed, and all the flab just hangs onto my thighs and arms which makes me look FAT!!!
that makes you what... 5'3"? ok, you're not super thin, but there is no way you are fat. But maybe getting more exercise would help? for both toning and weight loss?

and sorry, i guess i missed the point of the post. Something that helps stop me from eating too much at night is having a bowl of fiber one or oatmeal shortly before bed. its filling and you don't feel deprived, yet it is calorie controlled.
This may sound absurd, but I think the reason that i binge everynight is not because I feel hungry.. it's just because... I don't know, actaully :S Everynight at the same time I just feel the need to EAT something regardless i'm hungry or not. So I guess it's a psychological barrier, I need to break this stupid habit to keep my weight loss going.

Seeing my weight stagnant and not going down is not good at all... Sometimes I really hate myself for sabotaging my efforts. I need some motivation...
Sytso, one of the number one reasons why people binge is because they are bored. Maybe that's your problem. Boredom usually results from having nothing to do, so you should find something to do. First off, brush your teeth when you are done with your last meal. Then turn off the kitchen lights and just DO NOT GO IN THERE. Then, read, watch tv, chat online etc. A few days of this, and the urge to binge will be significantly reduced.
do you binge at the same time every night? if so what time?
yes kate i agree with u- i think the major reason I binge is because one, I'm bored, two, I'm used to binging at that hour of the night - around 12 midnight (i'm a night owl and i sleep evreyday at around 3 because of heavy workload),... now I feel so guilty. Moreoever I am busy whole day tomorrow and I can't go to the gym!!! what vcan I doooo????  I don't wan to see the pounds going up and up and up!
to be honest the only way i've found to avoid late night hunger is to go to bed before it hits, i know its not always possible but when you can try it.
sytso: so you are saying that you are 5'3" , 125 pounds and  you say that you are fat? ok. I am 5'3" and 153 pounds. My goal was to reach 125 by the end of the year but my trainer told me that I would be ok at 135. of course everybody is different but I just wanted to tell you that your problem can be solved quickly because you don't have tons of fat to lose. how many pounds do you need to lose? not that many I guess. so why don't you take it easy. Losing weight is a lifestyle change. your words reminded me with what I did in the past. I feel you. you just need to follow some simple rules and take it one step at a time.

how about if you just do this. 1- increase your fiber intake.

2- do your cardio workout everyday.

try to do that for one or two weeks and see how it goes. good luck.
safina I want to lose to 110 lbs. All the flab are just in the worst spots to be- legs, arms, waist. I had successfully lost weight last year but I regained all these few months because of these nasty binges. I think I look the best at 110 lbs, but I just don't know where my determination is, and my self-restraint. It seems that stupid 15 pounds is so hard to lose. Controlling my cravings for food is even harder to resist.
because you think and feel you are on a " DIET" . that is why you have cravings. believe me that happened to me in the past. 15 pounds?? lucky you:) I still have 25-30 pounds:)) why don't you enjoy the ride and you will get there?? set goals. eat often. every 3-4 hours. you will not be hungry. I will tell you one more thing. if you try to eat protein for your dinner, you will not feel hungry. that worked for me. get some salmon or tuna. they have 0 carbs and 15g of protein which will keep you full.

also, I want to ask you why do you wake up at night? you should wake up in the morning:)
well the thing is that I'm not binging becaseu i"m hungry- it's because of boredom, or it's because i've already developed this stupid nasty evil habit of binging everynight at 12. In fact I seldom feel hungry- i binge mainly for psychologicval reasons. Is there a fix apart from seeing a therapist or psychologist?
also I dont wake up at night, I stay up at night because of heavy workload... i sleep at around 2-3 everynight :P
Write down your psychological reasons.  Is something bothering you - work, school, personal relationship.  You are right about it being a habit - so you need a different habit.  Just don't do it for a few days and it will already be easier.
Can you go to bed earlier and wake up earlier - that will help as well.
so you know the reason already. that is good because that will help you to try to find solutions.

binge on broccoli since you are not hungry.. how about that??:)
one last tip:) I find that when I am dead tired at the end of the day, I can't even open the fridge to eat..lol why don't you work out in the evenings and go to bed after that?
eat to maintain till those feelings go away. its worked every time for me. also when you go back to your diet your body is more relaxed and ready to give up those last few. also when you go to maintain you will notice that your body firms up a bit. you may gain a pound of water weight. up to 4 is normal. BUT take your measurments before you do this and you will see your size stays about the same if not 100% the same.

then when you are feeling restored you can drop your cals again.

another girl in featherwts tried this as it worked for her as well.
good luck!

You are way too caught up in all this.  Just quit obsessing, relax, have a small snack at 12 and go to bed.
lee_k if I'm not obsessing about food I wouldn't be binging and I wouldn't be making this post ... I wish I could quit obsessing as well. :(
