Oh, wow. Not you, just the amount of people saying the same thing. Do some reading in this section (weight gain) of the forum. There's like three threads on the first page, you'll be able to get oodles of info from all the replies in older threads. :)
you are fishing right???
This can't be a serious post, can it?
KEEP eating and eating until you are a normal weight. If you are worried, talk to your parents or doctor. They will help you to see that this is what you are supposed to be doing.
It's hard to say whether you'll put on lots of weight and how fast - everyones different. You'll probably gain a few pounds in the first week but then it will begin to slow. Just keep eating hun! Your body is thanking you for some well needed calories (at 38kg you're very underweight) so d/w bout it. Once you get to a nice healthy weight, then you can start worrying about nutrition and stuff but this is probably the only time in your life you will be able to eat all you like so just enjoy it :)
Don't feel guilty, I know it's hard especially if you were previously restricting but I think it's important that you get back to normality of being a teen - most of my mates live off burgers and fries lol so there's nothing wrong with scoffing a few as part of your gaining!
i contiued eating the past week and i lost weight!! nowi'm down to 36kg. but after my dietition visit. she upped my supplements and told me to continue eating alot. i eat alot more than last week now! i totalled my calorie intake on one day and it was like 9000!!! now i'm super scared of massive weight gain. i feel myself getting meatier and i'm super anxious and scared. how could i have gained so much in such a short period!! help!
well 9000 cals is a lot of food. you will put on weight with this. which i presume is what you want. typical weight gain diets are 3000-3500, so if you are puttin on weight fast its because you are eating a huge amount. 9000 cals is enough to put on 2lbs a day!
Most people recovering from a low calorie diet feel like binging. It is the bodies natural response. When it is starved of food, it will feel like binging once you start to feed it again. Your body does not trust you, it does not know you will continue to feed it a normal amount of calories.
The urge to binge usually dissipates once people reach a healthier weight, and their bodies basically trust them again!
It IS important that you stick you a plan and make sure you are eating enough to gain. However, it is never ideal to binge eat on a lot of food in one sitting. Gaining weight IS your number one priority, but binge eating can lead to a bad habit.
While gaining, weight gain IS the first priority. Learning how to eat and handle food is secondary after weight restoration. However, it can hinder your future progress if you develop a binge eating habit. It may become hard to break this habit when you are at a healthy weight.
Basically, developing healthy eating habits and developing a healthier attitude towards food is still important, but it is not as important as gaining the actual weight.
The way in which you gain the weight may cause other problems, such as a binge eating disorder, once you do real your weight gain goal, therefore it would be easier for you to prevent this problem.
The urge to keep eating may be overwhelming, but here are a few suggestions that may help:
Make sure you read the basic nutrition guidelines; they are not 100% accurate because each persons body will require slightly different amounts of carbohydrates/fats/proteins/ and calories. However, it is a GOOD GUIDE -
You need to look at these basic guidelines, and you need to listen to your nutritionist because your body needs to fill up on THE RIGHT KIND of calories. For example, people that eat enough carbohydrates but do not eat enough proteins or fats can crave the things they are lacking which commonly leads to binge eating; the body can be full of carbohydrates, and have ENOUGH calories to gain, but still crave more because it craves a certain TYPE of food.
Make sure you include all food groups so that your body is not LACKING anything; if your body is lacking anything than your body will crave what it is missing and may never feel satisfied until it gets what you are lacking.
Don’t obsess or focus too much on exact amounts of proteins carbohydrates or fats at this point but still remember that you need to eat all three of these things in order to keep your body functioning optimally, and to help prevent binging.
A lot of people eat a balanced diet and still feel the need to binge when they are still under weight - but the urge is much worse if you do not balance your diet. It will make them want to binge even more.
Finally remember that you do not have to eat it all in one sitting! The food will still be there later, and you can look forward to a snack or meal very soon, so there is no need to eat everything in one sitting!
Good luck!
