Hello peoples... My name is Neek and I am a binger.

My last binge was three days ago when hubby had a party at our place... I wolfed through a steak, garden salad and pototoe salad, a couple of tim tams, some peanuts, cheese and olives and several bourbon and cokes...

While I'm confessing all these sins I'll also admit to singing very very badly for the sing star games during said party.

I usually an emotional eater. And will go through an entire pack of chips after a bad exam etc. Hopefully with the help of this thread that habit will be a thing of the past : )
Hey guys, I've been out of commission for the past couple of days and just found this new thread.  I have had BED for about 15 years.  Back in the day, they called it bulima-rexia.  I would eat large amounts of food and then starve.

My wakeup call came two years ago when my then 9-year old daughter who is absolutely beautiful and perfect started bingeing and purging because of my jerk ex-husband.  He kidnapped my three oldest children during their spring break visit.  They repeatedly told my daughter she was fat, etc.  Do you know how hard it is to find an eating disorder counselor for a child that young?  We caught it in time and with a lot of love and common sense managed to help her reign it in.  However, I realized that she was carefully watching what I was (and wasn't!) eating and I was so afraid I would pass my disease on to her.

I have really struggled for the past two years and have made it for several months at a time and then binged at least once a week for the past couple of months.  I just got much better at hiding it.  I am desperately trying to get my life back on track and make sure that I am a positive example for my babies.

Congratulations to each of you for being strong and honest.  Definitely "friend" United - she is a constant inspiration in so many ways!
Hello everyone,

Shi here. And I most definitely am a binger.  My drug of choice is potato chips and I nearly always fall to a 'salty' craving.  I love salty things.  Obviously I have a problem with my sodium levels.

I nearly crashed and burned today when the Craving hit me this afternoon.  At first I just hid out in my room and tried to avoid the kitchen.  Eventually I crawled into my dad's office and begged him to count out exactly one serving size of 'Cheez-its.'

He looked at me.  "Why can't you do it?"

"'Cause then I might eat them all!"

I love my daddy.  He listens to me even if he thinks I'm a crazy person.

So I didn't fail today, but who knows if I'll survive the next Craving.
hi everyone!! my name is tj & i am a binger & emotional eater also. this makes me feel better to hear all of your stories. i have been binge free to 2 days now. my binge food of choice is sweets. i could eat a whole box of little debbies and get like this high while i am eating. this hold that food has over us is amazing, it is hard to understand sometimes. i am trying to retrain my brain on how to respond to food. so this site is very helpful.

talk to you later!!!
I'm doing pretty well.  I dont' think I've binged in over a week.  Those little packages of pretzels and cookies really help.  I have no idea why.  The thing is, if I start on a binge, I take the food and give it to my dh to put away (okay, this is embarrassing, but he puts it in the locked gun cabinet) or I throw it away.  So I haven't had any full out eat the whole package binges in quite awhile.

Basically, bingeing is how I gained all of my weight.  I eat pretty normal meals, but I crave junk.  Even with dieting, too much of my calorie count today came from a 1 ounce bag of pretzels, a 1 ounce bag of fritos and a TCBY yogurt.  I still stayed at a good calorie level, mostly from super healthy meals.  I guess those arent' the worst things to eat, many people eat them as a part of their healthy eating plans.
Hi everybody,

My name is songchild and I'm a BE.

Yesterday, I downed an entire bag of cookes.  Today, I bought a new bag and asked my daughter (she isn't a BE) to hide them somewhere so that when she or my husband want some they will be available.
twindaze: What a great idea actually having your dh lock up the goodies. I should go get a lockbox of some sort and give the key to my hubby. I like the 100 cal packages but my trouble is sticking to only one if I get hit with cravings. I want to be able to savor and enjoy a treat once in awhile.
Danuri, I can't take credit for the idea unfortunately.  He just got annoyed one too many times when I found something that he had hidden.  Since I stay at home, I clean everywhere and often found stuff I wasn't looking for.  Other times I'd look for it.  This way I know I have no chance, so I don't bother.  I'm okay with it.  My dh isn't really all that supportive.  He is not a binge eater at all, actually he's one of those people who never overeat and say things are too rich and such.   So he just doesn't get me.  But he does worry about my health so he does this.

I"m not sure why I do well with the 100 calorie packages, but luckily I do.  I've been known to eat 2 on occasion, but it's still well below what I'd eat with a big bag.
Maybe I'll have to suggest DH locking up some of the snacks.  I have gotten to where I am a lot more in control and can resist the cravings.  BUT...we have four children.  I have them on a mostly organic diet with lots of fresh fruits and veggies.  Lately DH has been doing some of the grocery shopping since I have trouble maneuvering with the cast and cane.  He can't resist a buy-one-get-one-free deal, no matter what it's for!  He comes home with chips to go with the sandwiches, ice cream, etc.

He also has gotten in the habit of bringing me home diet coke from the store (which doctor has taken me off of for a host of reasons) and he gets up early in the morning on the weekends and picks up breakfast from McDonald's, Chik-fil-a, etc.  I usually remember to ask him on Friday night not to pick anything up for me, but he likes to bring me "treats".

Trust me, he is very supportive of my weight loss efforts.  I truly don't believe he's trying to sabotage me.  He is very complimentary of how good I am starting to look, etc.  But we come from the southern school of "food will make it all better" where food treats=love.  Any suggestions on how to nicely get him to stop?
Hey kids! I did not binge yesterday so, 2 days done, 5 to go!
I dunno Jennelaw, I guess you will have to sit down with him and have the talk Tell him how serious you are about it, and that from now on you are going to refuse to eat those treats, even though you appreciate that hes thinking of you. or maybe ask that he only does it once a week or so. Im not really sure. This could absolutely backfire, I really dont know, but thats what I would do.

heh.. or you could suggest everytime he goes to buy you a treat to put the money away and at the end of the year buy you some expensive jewelry  :P
It's definately a tricky situation jennelaw. I know I get upset with hubby if he always forgets me too so it's hard to discourage that "treat" thing. Maybe if you explain to him how hard it is for you to continue trying to eat healthy and ask him to find nutritious treats or other types of treats (as in not food) maybe that will help. Hopefully if you sit down with him and talk about it, he will understand.
I hear you all.  My hubby is Columbian and likes me soft and round.  It's been a while since he has come home with a box of ice-cream for me.  Lately, since last April, he sees me happier when I stay away from the sugar and when I exercise daily.  So he, after 25 years of marriage finally "got it" to not to get it.  I had to show him I was happier eating right and working out rather than digging into whatever bag or box.
Hmmmmm....the jewelry thing sounds great!  It also doesn't help that he had a stroke 8 years ago (he's only 39 now) and his short term memory is somewhat lacking.  Since he's started watching his weight and calorie intake too, I could make an agreement with him that anything he gets he has to eat half of.  Of course, that may backfire too if he wants to cheat/treat.  LOL
Hi, guys! I'm going to join this thread. :) I've had a lot of trouble with binging...but I just wanted to share with everyone that today is my 17th binge-free day!!! For over two weeks, I've kept 500+ calorie deficits every day.

Yay, just wanted to share that.

But part of me is kind of worried that my urges are building up and I might have a...well, I don't know. Breakdown. Yikes.
lizzlebizzle -

when you start feeling the urges building try increasing your calories a little bit for the next few days.  Also, you may need a treat/cheat meal or snack to help you feel less deprived.
Hey! It is almost the end of my third day!! Youou!

I did over eat a little today but nothing serious and I am still in my allowance.
yeah, lizzlebizzle, try not eating the same exact number of calories every day but zig-zagging them: 600 calorie deficit one day, 400 the next, you get the idea. You'll keep your metabolism on its toes better that way, too.
Ohhhh Forget what I said earlier... I just binge... a little bit... my stomach is doing all sort of sounds :(

Back to day 1 tomorow...
