guys, this sucks. lately, i've been eating a lot! not pigging out on junk food, but just eating a lot in general. i'd say it's WAY above my maintenance calories, prob like 800-1000 above. it's really scary, cause i don't get full anymore. i think the binges caused my stomach to expand, and i now i don't get full anymore. i just eat and eat and eat all day. my brain tells me that i'm hungry even though my stomach is bloated from the amount of food i ate. i tried organizing a meal plan. small meals don't work as i never get full and end up snacking all day. large meals...don't really work either. i'm scared and honestly don't know what i can do to regain the sense of fullness i used to have.

Suck down some water to get that "full" feeling. I personally can't stand that feeling -- if I get it then I feel fat and bloated, so I avoid it. I eat just to take the edge off. You have to retrain yourself and resist your urges. It surely can be done. Try starting out your meal with vegetables to "fill you up" and then eat the rest of your meal. If you do the water and veggies first, you'll definitely be filling your stomach. Anyway, the stomach recoils back to a smaller size as it empties; it's supposed to stretch when you put food in it. It's normally only about the size of your fist.
Psh... Water doesn't make you feel full, I'd know, I've tried it. (I'm not saying to not drink water, you DO have to drink lots of water, I'm just saying, don't expect it to make you feel full.) Subwaybusker, I'm right there with you on this one. I'm not sure exactly if there is an actual SURE for this, but something you could try is eating denser foods, like oatmeal and brown rice, y'know, grapes also do a good job at filling you up. Yeah, stuff like that.
alayney has a point.. retrain yourself to not want that "full" feeling... i mean i love that full feeling however when i get to that point then i eat the whole day to keep that full feeling. once you do exercise being full then you understand how uncomfortable the full feeling is.
you're not alone.. i need to retrain my urges to eat more too... how do you do it alayney?
