Binging / Bulimia

Quote  |  Reply

Is it considered bulimia if one binges and restricts (but does not purge or use laxatives)?

Save meeee :( Cause I don't know what to do anymore.
I've seen my family doctor, regularly see a psychiatrist, my parents are aware and trying to help (there's only so much food you can hide and they can't stop me when I binge at 3am) but I just can't stop binging.
Its affecting my mood, focus, studies, sleep, etc.

I'm not sure since I can't diagnose you.. I'm not a dr.  But those may be some helpful links.  Regardless it sounds like you are having some difficulties and I hope you seek some help.  I have bulimia and if you ever want to talk pm me.

If we said "no", would that change anything?

It doesn't matter what it's called. The real point is that you have a problem and you recognize this. Your eating patterns are disordered and regardless of what the proper name for your particular condition may be, you need to get some help. There are many threads on this board with tips about how to avoid binges, you could search some of them. But the best thing would be to figure out what the root cause of your binges are, and target a change in that area of your life.

Do you binge when you are stressed? Happy? Emotional? Are you always hungry?

You mentioned that you restrict. This will result in further bingeing, as the body becomes malnourished and reacts by making you eat ravenously.

Try to figure out why and when you do it, and go from there.

Best of luck, I can relate.
