Binging HELP please!!

Quote  |  Reply

Hello CC... I am recovering from EDNOS and just indulged in biggest binge i have had in a long time. The past week or so i know I have not been eating enough, around 900 calories a day. So today of course i was really hungry and gorged myself and now i feel so helpless! Right now I am very confused. I want to keep eating because my body knows this might be the last time I get some calories. I feel full and sick but at the same time even emptier and more guilty. It is three oclock and this is what i have had to eat

BFAST

Smoothie ( skim milk, berries)=200, Sunflower seeds =180, Air-popped corn=100

Snack

Sandwhich with veggie meat, veggie cheese, and mustard= 240 cals

LUNCH

Veggie burger=100, fruit salad=170, pudding=60, cottage cheese= 90

```This is already a ton of food for me. Remember i have only been eating an average of 900 calories a day for the past week or so :( ```
THE BINGE!
3 100 calorie pack cookies= 300,, Ritz crackers= 270,, Yougurt= 170,, 4 huge bowls of honey nut cheerios=1000
GRAND TOTAL OF THE DAY
around 2890 calories!!
And I have not even had dinner yet. I am fourteen years old. 5'3 and 125 pounds..I would really help if somebody could give me advice about what to eat tonight for dinner, and the next couple of days! THANKYOU
As a trained LCDC therapist the best advice would be to seek therapy for this specific type of problem. I am not sure if you are in therapy or not. Binge eating as you know is something that is not an issue with weight but more with you feeling you have little control in your life. Recovering this addiction and maintaing healthy choices is crucial to recovering completely. I can tell you not to worry about the calories tonight but I also know that with this disorder it is hard to listen to advice. Tonight, eat healthy. talk to your parents and others who might be in a position to get you in touch with a therapist or life couch to help you with your struggle.
Good Luck
This is your body's way of telling you that this is not enough calories!! The absolute minimum for a teen girl is 1500, and that's assuming you're in a coma all day! Actually, your menu looks like about what you SHOULD be eating. I suggest you increase your calories to a more sensible amount, say around 2000-2500. If you can stay consistant with that amount of calories, you will stop feeling the urge to binge. Like eyeslikebruises said, if you cannot do this alone, it's very important that you seek therapy. I wish you the best of luck! :)
I agree with goobyb.  Tackle the real problem i.e. the fact that you undereat and you're chronically malnourished....    14 year-old girls need a lot of energy and nutrition in order to grow and develop properly.  Starving leads to bingeing as sure as night follows day.  It's basic self-preservation.   Stop starving, give up on the '900 cals a day' thing that's making you ill, get a more appropriate 2000-2500 cals a day and you'll need fewer top-ups.
Eat a normal dinner.... chicken, potatoes, vegetables... or whatever is normal in your part of the world.  Your body clearly needs the energy.   Eat normal meals the next day, and the day after..... breakfast, lunch, supper... plenty of good food at each meal.... at least 2000 cals a day.    And then talk to the people closest to you about what's been happening, how you feel... and then check in with your treatment team for some professional help
CC can only help people in active recovery by offering support.  You're not actively recovering yet so we can't help you.
You're not eating enough, trust me I know.
I used to go days without eating, or eat around 100 - 300 calories, then out of no where I would just HAVE to eat, and sometimes eat up to about 4000 calories worth of fat, carbs, and salt. It is not healthy, and it's your body's way of telling you "feed me". You might as well eat a little more, and eat healthy while doing it, than eating very little only to eat a ton of unhealthy food. I don't know if the last part made sense, sorry.
That sounds all too familiar, I used to eat less than that a day and would binge secretly at night after restricting all day.  Not good!
Going to a counselor/nutritionist helps, they can analyze your menus and also help with the issues around food.  Since I was a vegan they mostly wanted me to get protein because it keeps you satiated but it's always hard not to eat the whole jar and that comes down to the counseling.  The nutrition will always come down to eating enough with complex carbs, low sugar and enough protein in small meals throughout the day to keep the desire to binge low though binges are mostly triggered from emotional stressors.
Keep yourself occupied, leave the house and go for a walk, delay the binge as much as possible and if you feel you're doing it because you haven't eaten enough then have a healthy snack that will get you up to your daily caloric intake.  Going over will just make you beat yourself up then restrict more the next day and perpetuate the cycle.
I hope this is an alright answer, it's just my opinion and hopefully you feel better!
ahh im going through the same thing as you,
lets try to get over it together!
i binge at night and feel discusting and guilty so i try to eat as little as possible the next day,
i just need to be able to say no to the binges but its hard.
im small too, 110 pounds 5.3 and i do NOT want to gain wait because i already have gained 10 pounds in 2 months.
i just binged
i had a whole box of fugeo cookies: 1500 calories, a subway sub and cookie 600 calories..
im debating whether to like eat a very small amount tomorrow, which could lead to a possible binge...OR.. wake up and have a healthy breakfeast etc...
i wish i could just not eat tomorrow,
i wishi could not binge
binging is grosss!
its so good while im doing it though
ahhhhh
And you're another one that's trying to resolve the wrong things.     It's not bingeing or gaining 10lbs that's the problem.......  it's trying to be too low a weight and when the only way you can stay there is by not eating enough.   Your BMI is 19.5 and when you were 100lbs you were either clinically underweight or you were 12, 13, or 14 years old.   You don't mention your age but if you're posting here because you're a teen then it's normal to grow and gain weight as you develop from a 'girl' to a 'woman'.
Your body will send you to look for extra energy if you deprive it.  You will stop bingeing the second you  start getting a more normal, balanced diet and the right amount of energy for someone your age/size and activity level.   You will stop bingeing when you stop restricting and let your body find its natural healthy weight.  For someone 5'3" that's anything between where you are now and 145lbs.
"I wish I could not eat tomorrow" unfortunately says a lot about your state of mind and your attitude towards food.  If you have issues with your body... if you think you are fat when you're clearly very thin.... if food is taking over your life.... and if you make yourself sick by eating to the point of being uncomfortably full.... then talk to people close, explain how you feel and consider seeing a doctor.
