Binging over the weekend??? Instant Weight gain?

hi guys:

Hope everyone had a good weekend.  I am on a long distance relationship with my boyfriend, so we celebrated valentines' day on Saturday.  He wanted to treat me out to my fav pasta place, so I just let him and had one hell of a day, here's how I did.

 

breakfast:  two poached eggs, one slice smoked ham, two slices of multigrain bread with butter and jam over it.

 Lunch: an apple??  we had dinner early. and breakfast late.

Dinner: A Large serving, 4 or 5 cups of pasta with meat sauce, a LARGE cesar salad and two glasses of wine.  Five chocolate almonds, one haggan dazz ice cream bar.

I measured myself that morning I was 117.6 and then the second morning 119.8

I weight myself every morning so I know how my body works everyday.  The only time I have increases is when I have bowl congestion.  But that day everything was perfectly fine! Can someone tell me if it's possible to gain that much weight in one day??

I believe the only way to truly gain that much weight in one day would to have a calorie surplus of 7000 calories from what you burned (probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 8500 calories eaten overall).  I doubt you ate that much!  Don't worry about it.  It's probably a little water retention.
that's what I thought!  On days where I will have to eat a little more, i always tell myself that this will not set me back that much because I would have to eat at least 3500 cal over to gain a pound!  But there will always be day where that does not seem too true.
too much salt perhaps??

I gained over a pound after this weekend.... Sat was a bad day, and I ate at maintenance, and I gained a FULL POUND over night. The next day, though, it was back to .2 less than before my bad day. See what happens over the next couple, and don't let it kill you.
Pasta, sauce, dressing on the salad, etc. can have quite a bit of sodium in it. You must have retained from water due to that increase. Don't worry about it too much - hey, it's one day in - what, how often do you get to see your bf in person? I don't know about you, but over-indulging by something like 500 calories for ONE DAY in many? You won't even remember the difference by next week!
