I have a binging problem. Help?

Quote  |  Reply

How can I control my urge?

I'll stay on my diet for a couple of weeks, then go on a week-long binge and gain it all back, if not more.

For example, I was doing really well about a week ago, and then I just went into this mode where I ate anything that was high in sugar and calories.

Now I'm back to my starting weight.

Any tips to help me manage my urges?
I want to keep eating healthy, but I never can keep it up.

Thanks. (:

How many calories do you eat a day when you're on a diet ? This could be the reason that you felt the need to binge. If you're eating too little on a diet, this causes your body to go into starvation mode and the next thing you know, its telling you to eat everything in sight. Believe me, I've been there. Your body is telling you that you need to be eating more, so I would suggest upping your calorie intake to a more reasonable level. Then, you won't feel the need to binge since your body is getting adequate energy. If you are eating enough, then I would suggest eating smaller meals, more often. This makes it so that your metabolism is kept running smoothly throughout the day, and you never feel starving, which can cause you to go into binge mode. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids, too. Hope this helped. :)

what are you eating when you're not binging, and how many calories? if you're not eating whole nutritious foods, or enough food, you'll keep on binging.

In my experience I binged when I was restricting too much (eating too little calories and thinking that fats were evil) or not getting enough protein.  It's important to have a balanced diet consisting of healthy fats, carbs (energy), proteins, and not depriving yourself.

This is also a big problem for me too. What I try to do when I have uncontrollable cravings is to sit down and breathe in and out 5 times and not concentrate on food. It can really help!
