I'm currently on this form of birth control... it's the one where you only have your period 4 times a year. Well it timed out that I'm going to have mine the weekend my husband and I are going away for a romantic weekend!! So obviously not good timing!! Anyone know if I could just take the non-active pills either the week before or the week after and sub for the active pills so I can move my period?? I mean since I'm essentially already skipping it with these pills.

No one??
I think it should be fine.
I read somewhere that you can essentially do the same with other birth control pills to minimize the number of periods you have a year by not taking the non-active pills.

Does it diminish the effectiveness of the birth control or have any other possible side effects though?
Nope, it's fine. Double-check with your doctor but I'm fairly sure it's not going to diminish effectiveness.
I've done it a couple of times, where you just skip the non-active pills and take your next cycle of active ones right away. It totally causes you to miss your period - and it's safe. It was something my doctor recommended for a similar situation.
You don't need to take the active ones early/late - just skip them. That said, I did it with the "regular" monthly bc pills - I'm not sure what would happen with your pills. To be safe, either ask the pharmacist where you fill your prescription or give your doctor a call.

Well I don't think I should just skip them... cause then it'll have been 6 months since I had a period.... I'll just shift it forward a week I think. Thanks for opinions everyone!
Would you add water to the gas in your car because you wanted it to go just a little further?
Call your doctor or pharmacist as suggested earlier. If you are going to take the pill then why not allow it the best posibility of actually working without hurting you in the process?

I sometimes skip my period by going straight from one pack to the other without taking the inactive ones. I have noticed that sometimes this causes the next period to be a lot longer and heavier than usual, or I get spotting at some point during the month.
