1 week ago I started taking Yaz birth control. Shortly after I started taking it I noticed a change in my mood. I have suddently felt a little depressed. I have also been irritable with people I care about. Now I read that depression can be a side effect but I wanted to see if anyone here as experienced this from Yaz or any other type of birth control? Besides taking the pill I haven't changed any other habits and nothing has happened that should cause any trauma. Let me know your experiences!

i don't know personally, but one of my very good friends had the same problem. i'm not sure if she was taking yaz, or something else, but the birth control definitely cause her some emotional prolblems. i'm not an expert at allll, but i know birth control is a really intense medication, and i've definitely heard of it causing depression before, not just from this one friend.
i was all screwed up when i was on BC, i've avoided it since. if you can, i'd say try to finish up the month. if the symptoms don't improve, then head back to the doc. there are lots of different formulas so maybe a different one would be better.
The first time I was on the pill, I found myself sitting in a chair and crying for no reason...once I remembered that I had started a hormone I was a bit happier. I'd talk to your doctor and your partner. Not only are there a wide variety of pills with different side effects, there are other methods of birth control.
You could just be on the wrong pill. My friend's sister experienced exactly what you have just described. I know of a couple of other people who experienced "male pattern baldness" while being on the pill. You need to let your dr. know what is happening- most likely it can be fixed easily.
As your body gets used to having its hormone balance changed and regulated, it's going to react in a number of ways, and mood changes will probably be one of them. It usually isn't permanent, though, and doctors usually want you to try a pill for a couple of months and see how you adjust to it before changing your Rx. Do talk to your doctor about anything you experience that bothers you, but be prepared to hear that, if it's not significantly affecting your functioning, they want you to stay on it for a while and give your body time to adjust before trying other formulations. Hormone regulation is a pretty significant thing for your body to deal with, especially at first, so give it a little time before you make any decisions, and stay in touch with your doctor. I wish doctors would explain better to patients that they may experience some funky-seeming changes while their body gets used to the new regimen; it happens to nearly everyone, and it's something that would be REALLY nice to know ahead of time.
I took yaz for about a week after switching from ortho tri cyclen and the yaz gave me TERRIBLE side effects. Dialated pupils, dizziness, arm and leg swelling, cramping in my left hand, racing heart, migraine. I litterally thought I was going to die. I stopped taking it and the symptoms ceased. Some birth control pills arent right for everyone, i'd suggest trying out other low-hormone brands.
