birthday blunder on the horizon?

i have eaten all of my day's calories, yet i am going to a friend's birthday party, where pasta and cake will be served. i'm not sure if it's worth it to give in or not. i'm worried where that kind of splurge might put me if i give into it.

Going over your calories once in a while is not going to cause you to gain weight.  It is consistantly going over that is the problem.

If you go, decide NOW to have only a small bit of pasta and a very small piece of cake.  Stick to that decision.  If you honestly don't think you can stick to that decision, don't go. 

Think about one thing, though.  Do you want food ruling your life and "telling you" where you can go and where you cannot go?  Or do you want to control your life and have the say over what food you eat and when?

If they are serving pasta they are likely also serving salad. I always take seconds of salad and if anything it keeps people from noticing that I am only eating a bit of pasta.

If you really want the cake take a small piece. I'm not a big cake fan so I often leave it, unless it's ice cream cake, I don't want to waste the calories.

If you don't have occasions like this very often, go ahead and enjoy what you want. One meal or one day of eating is NOT going to cancel out all the other days you're on track. Just strive for balance and when you weigh more in the morning, remember it's water weight and undigested food. It takes 3500 calories OVER your maintenance calories to even gain 1 lb of fat.

I take a free day every 2 weeks and it hasn't stopped me from losing almost 80 lbs.
