Birthday Success!

Quote  |  Reply
I just wanted to share my birthday success, which I was very proud of. I'm a recovering anorexic, and I just reached a comfortable body weight a few weeks ago, but am still in the ED mindset. My nutritionist told me that for my 16th birthday (which was yesterday), I should go off of the food logs and not even think about what I was eating, just to enjoy it and to know when I was full. Well, my mom took me out for coffee and bagels (I didn't try to get the lowest calorie thing either), and then frozen yogurt, and then to the movies where she bought me a bag of candy and I actually ate some of it. And I ate the veggie lasagna and the angel food cake she made for me for dessert. Then my boyfriend came over and bought me this mini 3 layer chocolate cake with buttercream frosting (rich much?) and I had a slice of that too!! I did feel a little guilty at the end of the day, but I was able to shake it off and felt ultimately pretty proud of myself. True, I did give the rest of my boyfriends cake away and felt a little guilty about that too...

Just wanted to share my success

Congratulations!!! I like that idea- my 19th birthday is on Tuesday, and I asked my mom to make me the chocolate cheesecake I used to love as a kid- the past few birthdays i've sadly had really lame cakes (my mom would always insist i'd have to have a cake, so i would have her make the lamest most low calorie one i can think of then have like a bite)...but NOT this year! Birthdays only come once a year :)...plus going out of the 'comfort' zone for one day makes it easier to get healthy in the long run!

Congrats :D

thats great, congrats!  my bday is aug 16th and the past few have been horrible!  i really dont want to upset my parents again and want to be "normal".  going out for dinner AND dessert-thats a bit intimidating for me.  im thinking maybe 1 or the other considaring my fav restaurant meals are probably 2000 cals in themseves.

Happy Birthday to both of you and good luck! I realized that if I kept myself busy I didn't feel as bad because I didn't have enough time to think about it.

SOCCER-that is so awesome!  i really want a bday success as well, but, did you restrict later on or the next day, or have really small portions?  i would love to be able to just eat "carefree" and not think about it-congratulations!

to confess, I did at first try to have smaller portions, but my parents/friends made sure I didn't, and I just learned to 'be flexible' for the day. I also suspect I restricted a little the next day, but I got back to my normal eating plan after that.
