Birthday weekend eating.....

Quote  |  Reply

So this weekend is my birthday weekend. I'm going out of town and want to treat myself to yummy foods I haven't gotten to eat in a LONG time. I planned on having ice cream for breakfast Saturday and a chicken quesadilla for dinner. The next day I'm only going to cheat with a light caramel frap from Starbucks. Is this ok? What should I make sure I do? Should I still eat lunch Saturday because of the ice cream and quesadilla?

(I have a mild ED, so it's a little hard for me to consider eating all this...but I really want to. I haven't cheated in what feels like half a year!)

Eat as normally as you can and enjoy your treats.  Never skip meals to compensate for a bigger-than-normal meal because that tends to end up being counterproductive... just eat a little more lightly instead.  Instead of a big lunch have a light lunch... soup and a bread roll, for example.   One meal never made anyone fatter or thinner.  Enjoying a special meal for your birthday is 'celebrating'... not 'cheating'.

its your birthday, so indulge and eat what you'd like! One day is not going to kill you. It took me a while to realize this myself. Just go back to normal the next day (do not skip meals!), your scale will pretty much stay the same, don't worry.

I recommend still logging the treats in your food journal.  When I've had "celebration treats" in the past I generally don't log them, then I assume I've done worse in terms of my calorie intake than I actually have, and it puts me in a defeatest frame of mind - making the rest of the week a write-off.  The last time I logged everything and realized I wasn't that bad off after all.  By logging the treats, you still may (likely) go over your calories, but it will be easier to get back on track later on.

Happy birthday - I hope you have a great weekend!

Ha Ha! Talk about a taste bud celebration! You know what, if you want to do this: go for it - it's your life: you can do whatever you want with it! Don't you dare log onto this website and log your calories though because then you will feel so incredibly guilty for all the calories you might consume - you will then go into a tailspin and who knows what might come of it! Just enjoy your birthday & weekend!! When MONDAY comes around though, don't you dare keep up this eating, go back to your normal eating schedule - and then log your calories again! Happy Birthday in Advance by the way!! :)

It's my birthday weekend too!! Your splurge sounds a lot more conservative than what mine will likely be though lol. Although instead of ice cream and coffee, the majority of my extra calories will probably be "spent" on vodka soda's.

Enjoy your birthday weekend because you've worked hard so deserve to have fun. And Happy birthday To You

It's my birthday weekend too!! :) We're going to this place, www.kenjifusion.com and I don't know if I'll be counting! Sushi appetizer platters, hibachi, thai fusion food... oh god. And cake. Sweet cake.

Actually I think I might count, because then I can track how my body responds to the spike in calories then the reduction the next day. Maybe I'll maintain.

One day isn't going to kill you. We all deserve "forbidden" treats every now and then. It's your birthday, so live it up and have fun!!! :)

Ha ha, I sure did last night cardioqueen. We shared some chicken satay, thai style dumplings (had water chestnuts in them, oh god it was good)... then I had an eel and cucumber roll.

After that was the main course, real hot and sour fresh mushroom soup, chicken and shrimp, noodles and vegetables hibachi style with a side of steamed rice, all topped with sesame seeds and served with a japanese style dip and a thai style dip. And two beers, we can't forget that, mmm. Then at home they made me cake!!!

My brother is now addicted to crabstick, he's the most picky eater in the world and I somehow got him to try maki (the nori part made him scared) but he ended up thinking maybe it wasn't so bad after all. So he likes him some california rolls now. He made me have two pieces of his shrimp tempura roll too that little bastid'

Anyway I had a good birthday, how about you OP?

There was a survey done where they asked a group of French women and a group of American women what words they associated with 'Chocolate Cake'. The word most chosen by the French group was 'Celebration' whilst the word chosen by the Americans was 'Guilt'

Live like the French! Birthdays are there to be celebrated, not agonised over. I hope you had a lovely time :) One weekend will not undo the rest of the year.
